Like all our matches, I enjoyed this one. Very close and great to see SideShow solve the puzzles in ways I am never able to envisage.
But, once again, Nuffle likes to see us on offence, and awards the OT coin toss result. Shame, as it was well fought draw.
1. GO TIME
Black Orc tempo was good. In T4 they reorganised defence into columns, which had me thinking...
Should we have taken space earlier when it was available? The deep kick and slippery ball stalled us a little. But that is one to ponder on.
2. MARK UP
In response to columns, we blitz into one, with no pow. So we decide to continue with marking in a long line.
I think it correct in a way. Something had to be done to advance the cause. But we did leave some options to block away the corners, and tricky blitz on our ball carrier.
That may have opened up opportunity to penetrate where it not successful, however.
Positioning big S4 on sides would have been better.
3. SACKED
We got sacked, a 49% play. I must remember this play, especially with strip baller stunty.
My thoughts are on ball carrier decision. This sack becomes 38% if carried on lino (negatives of M5 however), or 18% if on a blitzer.
Blitzer is my preference for carrier, however against the Blorcs we needed all strength available to fight.
4. DEFENCE
Biggest mistake of the game came on our defence, T2 of the 2nd half.
We needed to fortify the middle, but failed a re-rolled block-less 2DB. There was another way to make this happen, using a blitzer with block.
Even if the better candidate failed (less likely) it would have plugged the middle much better.
T6 i should also have plugged middle with the dodging goblin. But to be fair, the solutions Sideshow came up with were terrific.
OK, so there it is. Protect the middle more, against these slower styles of teams. Do that and I think we improve.”
