The most violent game our Canetoads have ever participated in.
With a total of 11 CAS, we were on the wrong end of this butcher's bill, taking 6 of them ourselves.
Not a part of this total, was the death by foul of our blodge-step, sure-hands ghoul. He will accompany our star blitzer to the charnel house.
A sad day for the Canetoads. Requiescat in pace.
Learnings
1. PRESSURE
Nuffle gifted a terrible series of 1s to the pick-up roll for none other than mega-star Hakflem Skuttlespike.
Silly.
Seeing this, we decided to apply pressure to the ball on floor. It was rewarded, and i think this decision helped.
But, we may have been caight with pants down, if pick up was good. I think risk vs reward based decision was correct, but something to ponder on.
Can we do the same, but make safer?
2. DEFENCE
We have now leaked 5 touchdowns in the last 4 games.
This game, we scored too early and left time for a counter score. We must improve ability to stall, and position accordingly.
But to be fair, coach Faulcon gave great pressure to score early with the wagon. Well played there.
We also left an obvious gap for gutter runner to go up the side, by positioning too narrow, in 1st half. This was maybe our biggest mistake of game.
OK, there it is, had we positioned better we may have had a better chance to stop the score. We must look to it.
3. FOUL
Once again, we are out-coached. Our team is built for fouling, yet we cannot find any good fouls.
Bravo once again to coach Faulcon, protecting the trolls and wagons and star players brilliantly.
Also worth mentioning, the use of bribes, and strategy to ensure naughty players were able to join the action in 2nd half. Great coaching which hurt us.
Summary
This should have been a loss. We were out positioned and out bashed, and only some terrible pick ups fails kept us in the game.
With two positionals dead, there is risk of a death spiral.
This could be the 1st nail in the coffin for the Canetoads.”
