“Its not often I have a game thats over on the kickoff. But this one definitely felt that way.
I used the big 5 for defense. I put 2 blorcs up there and a goblin. Content to lose one since I have a few in the bank.
Kick off result stuns 2 blorcs, he then murders another one on his second block along with the goblin. A really close kick makes it so he can move his entire team in uncontested. And I basically sat around on the ground waiting for the half to end because of that. I couldnt find another way out of it and Just saw me taking more needless casualties.
I think this becomes a different game if I dont lose a blorc right off the cuff and my players arent stunned.
Second half I recieved and he gets a blitz result. I manage to secure the ball for a turn but everyone is already tagged again. I think received another injury pretty early.
I set up for the blitz because I am just terrified of it. Being down a player means setting up against it isnt as effective. But it means maybe one guy in the backfield for the ball. And in this case getting all 6 on the blitz just sealed any positioning I might hope to have.
Conceded due to heavy losses. Opp played a great game as always. It was disappointing to lose my drives basically decided by kickoff results in combination with a guard heavy opp that can take advantage of multiple stunned players.
Im not unhappy with my defense. I wasnt willing to lose the whole team and I got pinned early. And I couldnt help that I got pinned due to the early removal and the kickoff result. I had a chance at a 1 die blitz on the last turn, needed some stunty magic to pull it off and couldnt get it. But im happy I at least saw that opportunity. I could have rerolled an earlier blotz on his carrier before that. I got the assist. But its one of things im working on - just because I can get a slight chance of a blitz on the ball carrier - can I recover the ball or contest it? Since I couldnt it didnt make sense to toss resources at it.
As for dice:
opp rolled only 5 skulls in 63 block die. Technically "made up for' with the amount of BDs, but this doesnt hurt dwarves.
30 blocks and a third of those blocks broke AV - I suppose makes sense with goblins although alot of that was blorc AV that was basically non-existant.
My 21 blocks and 3 injury rolls, its whatever. I dont really mind this. makes sense vs dwarves.
