1. RRR Dwarf Complete
Was able to win a RRR! Had pretty advantageous match-ups in Snotlings, and Underworld, and in theory Amazon's should've been as well, but I've found the new Amazons to be much more of a challenge with Dwarfs as opposed to the old. Norse was also a challenging game. Either way, really fun experience. I'll likely join again. I do feel it's a place where dwarves are at their best: low TV.
2. Patient Defense
I was happy that we were able to not get caught in a cut-back, or pulled away from over the top. We had good width through out, while responding to the threats in a balanced way I felt. By the time the Amazon's pushed we were in a decent position to react as opposed to them having a clean cage. There were moments when I felt I should've looped a player behind, and I'm grateful I never did because we needed everyone back to keep them from pulling away.
3. Giving up a lot of hits
I marked pretty aggressively and gave up a fair number of hits, which easily could've swung against me. Often it felt like they required at least some amount of awkwardness to set up 2Ds, and as the game went on 1/9s eventually started adding up. Could be interesting to look back at and see if there was a better way.
4. Coming Back from the Deep Kick Blitz
I was very worried with the deep kick and the blitz, that we were in a lot of trouble. I had set up to defend against it, which was nice. Also very lucky that the opponent got double BDs. What I like was that I didn't panic and instead moved the pieces in place to cover the ball, and stuck to our plan of caging, blitzing and marking without trying some wild thing that exposed us. Opponent did manage 2D on the ball with a re-roll, which would've been nicer to have avoided, but it required a good deal of set up to get. Need to be cautious of chains to set up hits on the ball. ”
