“We can feel extremely lucky to come out of this one with the win. With Gimli out through a niggling injury, our main attacking threat was gone. The Dwarf who has scored 12 TD's in the previous 6 matches was gonna have to watch from the side lines. Added to that the rookie Khóne was BH on the first turn by the opposition Deathroller, and we were down to 10 for the duration. A Dwarf down, without Gimli or Telchar, and a Deathroller on the pitch, things did not look good. Thankfully the Machine broke down on the GFI and blew it's boiler the next turn. So at least it was ten all for the rest of this drive.
Hack'n'saw came so very close to opening the scoring mid half. Running man found space ten yards from the line, and our only chance was a double GFI blitz by Galrung. as the block was thrown, Running man decided to throw a pass to one of his teammates. The pass scattered, and the GFI failed. If he had just held on to the ball he could have walked across the line...... Óin picked the ball up, and if he had been more aware would have stretched his legs a little. As it was he left it too little too late, and was unable to cross the line before the half time whistle.

2nd half and we were receiving, and our spirits were lifted by the lucky escape in the first. The Longbeards lined up on the LOS and drew the opposition team in. Óin was holding the ball just behind the line, and the captain Gamil Zirak orchestrated a gap for him to dash through. A single skull the next turn ended any hope hellmaister had that his Dwarves would catch the break away, and we went over to make it 1-0.
with 6 turns remaining for the opposition, they were looking to draw at the very least, and as the turns went on they ground their way up the pitch, injuring two more and knocking another off field. With only 7 defenders, of which only 2 had guard, and the opposition 6 squares from the endzone, it took a very plucky block to rip the ball from the ball carrier in our final turn. They still had one final throw of the dice, and with only a pick up by the Runner standing between them and the equaliser..... He failed it, with sure hands. Game over, 1-0.

So, the first match in the club's long history without the talismanic Telchar, and it seems business as usual. Not quite. We didn't deserve the win, and could have left with the loss. Gimli would have helped, but we cant depend on him to show every game. All in all a good result, if a bit shaky.
