#3 Walker Boh II – Broken Ribs (MNG) #3 Walker Boh II – Smashed Knee (NI) #14 Shea Ohmsford II – Dead (RIP)
“First the rain made ball control virtually impossible, yet both sides managed to score once. Then the sun came out so blazing hot it caused half of each bench to collapse, yet both sides scored once more. Then along comes turn 7 of the second half...
Weather turns good, and he's advancing the ball after the kickoff. He takes four hits on my guys--a pushback, a knockdown, a RIP and a niggle (apo used earlier to prevent yet another niggle). He then proceeds to catch the ball in a tz and dodge away for what appeared to be the winning score, leaving my team reeling from the sudden rash of injuries.
Final turn, I have one shot at this, and he knows it--he puts three on the line, the other 8 spread out near his endzone. All I can do is setup for the chainpush, and hope for a miracle...
Actually, there ended up being two miracles. First, a touchback on the kick meant I could give the ball directly to my receiver, which eliminated two rolls. The chainpush went well, although I had to burn the rr to keep his guy standing long enough to get that one last push needed to spring my catcher. So it was that without rr's, my catcher had to race between his catcher and the sideline, making a series of 4+ dodges to paydirt and the tying score.
The crowd loved the game, although they ended up spending all their money on umbrellas and cold beverages, leaving none to replace the two fallen heroes. But Walker II has become a new strength and conditioning coach, while the two skill rolls earned were both doubles, so it wasn't a total loss on the game. We'll just have to wait another game before we can regain our full complement of blitzers...again...”
