“It was supposed to be a close match, but most of it was very one sided after some initial fortune for the Squeakers.
To start off the game, two of the Squeaker players suddenly pulled up sore before the match (including my S3 Gutter Runner) so the Witches were at a huge advantage.
The Witches started in offence, but a poor block by their veteran Thrower Loigor Backstabber (double Block/Pow) left the Dark Elf seriously injured and the back field wide open for Squeakers Gutter Runner Thanquol to charge down the remaining Thrower (despite failing Dauntless roll, and also the reroll!) and score a quick TD.
From there, it was basically a one sided match as the Squeaker players who were knocked out stayed that way most of the match whilst the Witches were able to recover their players.
The Witches powered forward and after delaying and delaying scored in the first half with not enough time for the Squeakers to score a TD back.
After the last drive in the first half, the Squeakers started in offence with only 8 players to face off against the Witches 11. With some powerful (and lucky hitting) the Witches were soon reduced to 8 as well.
However, the Witches were able to knock out Thanquol and then steal the ball and score.
The Squeakers had just enough time to score a TD, but an unlucky play found them short of the end zone (Dauntless roll needing 4+ on 2 dice failed, so had to be rerolled, and then I got a Skull + Skull/Pow so I didn't have enough movement left to get into the End Zone).
-------------------------------
Congratulations to my opposing coach who being a very skilled player exploited every advantage he was given. Unfortunately for me, he had a lot of advantages due to my bad luck. Eg, 2 niggled players at the start, 3 players all not coming back after being KOd. Then only 1 out of 3 in the second half, whereas my opponent's KOd players (not as many) came back regularly.
The whole first half was pretty disasterous rollwise. It improved in the second half, but not enough and the final play was very unlucky when I failed that Dauntless roll then failed to get a single pushback. My opponent says that if he had stunned the GR with the foul instead of Badly Hurting him (so I apothed him and kept him on the field) then he would have won too, but I would have tried scoring and saved my reroll for another play down the middle of the pitch.
Anyway, a pity that luck played so much part in this game and of course, I rolled a 1 for money, and 1 or 2 for FF. Just one of those crap days at the office :) ”
