“Slightly wary of the AV9, combined with a super-strong longbeard (ST4) nd a blitzer with elven blood (AG4), not to mention 2 slayers whom could potentially easily negate my mummies I started this game.
I should not have worried.
I won the toss and opted to receive.
One slayer was quickly seriously injured by my meanest zombie 'Braindead Git' while the other slayer tripped and injured himself seriously the turn after. Outnumbered and as agile as their steel armour the Dwarfs could do very little to stop my wight from scoring.
I delayed my touchdown with one turn with the idea that 4 turns is plenty for Dwarfs to score but three puts them under a lot of pressure. Which would suit me fine of course.
Unfortunately my opponent considered this a lame tactic. And remained silent the entire match from that point on. A shame. I honestly and sincerely do believe that a 1-turn delay cannot be classified as stalling. Had I opted to delay 3 turns and score in my 8th turn; THAT would have been stalling. And I could have done such a thing easily, outnumbering the Dwarfs by 2.
The second half he received. His KO did not return and to make matters worse his AG4 blitzer was hit (KO) by a thrown rock. Not a good start for an offensive drive indeed. I used the ancient tactic of simply putting a zombie or a mummy in a tackle-zone of the dwarfs. Thus leaving me 3 players (one of his carried the ball!) to probe for holes in his defense.
The inevitable happened and I got to knock over his runner and pick up the ball. A turn later my AG4 wight probably wanted to show off to all the dead girls in the stands because he managed to fail 2 gfi's. With ball in his skeletal hands mind you. Failing to score and burning a re-roll in the process.
His runner picked it up but could not secure the ball so I was free to blitz him with a ghoul (the ashamed wight assisting this time), knock him over and pick up the ball. (sure hands rules on a ghoul)
The ghoul succeeded where the wight had failed. 2-0 with a mere 2 turns left for the dwarfs. Both his AG4 blitzer and the KO runner did not return so my opponent decided not to push for a desperate 2 turn score.
Thus ending my 10th victory in a row with this team.
If only it all had been skill instead of a lot of help from Nuffle I'd be an even happier coach. ”
