#5 Hagel Mary – Broken Ribs (MNG)
#5 Hagel Mary – Broken Neck (-AG)
#9 David exHumed – Dead (RIP)
Thanks for the kind words AFK_Eagle, I enjoy our matches as well :-)

I really did blow that final drive...7 players was not enough to attempt the strategy I tried and I only realized that too late.

As for my luck...well.

I have had pretty much continual bad fortune with Dark Elves (continual meaning over the course of about 120 games). Even when I win, it's usually at the expense of a niggle, a failed aging roll, a RIP (or 2 or 3), or at the very least a loss of FF. I have the occassional game where nothing goes too badly for me, but 4 out of 5 games at least offer some pretty brutal bad luck. Often I can still pull out a win, but it would be nice to not have to sweat every game. Then again, it may be because I almost always play up in strength by a good margin. Perhaps I should just scout for easier games ;-)
I've really stopped caring much about coach ranking so I don't have that weighing me down, but I really do like my Dark Elf team and I wish they could have a stretch where they could recover. Really, its a grim feeling to play with these guys, just waiting for the dice to rake me over the coals. Hardly ever happened with my Wood Elves. Strange.
Oh well, thx for the game and good luck with the Scions :-)

I guess the old axiom is correct, dark elves really can't stand bright sunlight. Nor excessive heat, for that matter. In 5 kickoffs after the opener, only one human succombed to the heat and had to sit out. Meanwhile, every one of his elves at one point or another had to sit, and there was always at least 3 of them sitting down heavily. For a team which had MNG from prior matches and new cas from this match, it meant I outnumbered him throughout, often times by 2:1 margin. Yet despite this numerical superiority, I very nearly lost the match.

Game opens, one of his witches bh's herself dodging in turn 2, which probably ends up being key to the entire game. However, thx to a narrowly avoided niggling injury caused by his rookie thrower!!! he got the ball and raced for paydirt, as all my potential tacklers were already downfield to protect MY run for the score. He stalled as long as he could before my tacklers got too close for his comfort, then in he went.

Now he can only field 6 (soon made 5 from cas) elves due to the heat, vs 11 of me. I can pass the ball around, pick and choose whom to have score. 'Twas nice. :-) Stall til end of half, as don't have confidence in stopping him in 2 turns.

Second half comes, he takes the ball in for a typical elven score, wham bam thank you ma'am, 2 turns. My turn, and again I find myself facing only 6 elves (again, soon made 5) from the heat. Easy as pie to tie the game, lineup and hope to get the ball back, right? Not so fast, amigo! Those 5 darn elves, using incredibly lucky 2d MY pick blocks, proceed to rip the ball away and race the OTHER direction, threatening to extend their lead. (Of course, 3 failed completions and a failed pickup by my rookie thrower didn't help matters. :-( I hate rookies...) By nuffle, it took several gfi's and a fortunate blitz on his blodger to get the ball back, failing a couple more dodges using my agi 4 lineman. *shakes head* I eventually scored, but it took 5 turns and 4 rr's, my 11 vs his 5. Unbelievable.

I had the choice to stall and settle for a draw, or score and risk losing in an effort to win. I chose to gamble for the win, and my opponent complied by trying to set up a cage for his ballcarrier. However, it was too loose a cage, and a judicious blitz knocked the ball loose. Along comes my rookie thrower...*pause for coach to hit knees in prayer*...who picks up the ball and completes a pass to my blitzer to start racing the other way!!! *does happy dance* He only has one guy who can even touch me, and all he gets is a pow/skull no move, letting me blitz my way over his elven body to the endzone and the winning score.

Incredible game, as I have come to always expect from playing Tautology. He is on my "Definite Play" list of coaches, and I hope to definitely play him again! His team and my Scions are starting to develop a history together, meeting every dozen games or so for a rematch. To date, I've had the better end of the deal, but only barely.

Sorry for the continued carnage to the team, hope things turn around for you soon. You coach your players very well! Kudos!
