“The game started well for me, with my fans getting the ref on my opponent's kick off, though I only really found myself in a position to foul three or so times. The adverse team attacked strongly and my drive was slow and cautious, but eventually the KOs and one BH started accumulating and the elves were eventually too few to be able to stop the rats from scoring in their turn 8.
The second half was more telling. The elves started with a firm counterattack, but eventually an assisted Gutter Runner managed to blitz and down the ball carrier. From this quick reverse, the Ag 4 Stormverming was able to get the ball and run to the TD line, defended by a couple of team mates as well as my opponent's unfortunate propensity for rolling skulls.
The last TD was perhaps the most telling, and certainly the most daring. A demoralized elven team fumbled the initiative on a double skull and, with only two turns to go before the end of the match, the rookie Gutter Runner surged forward, dodging past the elf thrower and grabbing the ball. Deep inside hostile territory, his team mates surged forward to try and protect him, but were too slow. Open to a blitz and a block on the last elf turn, a single POW result on one of the four dice might possibly have stopped the TD. But it was not to be. The elves were unable to knock him down and, one blitz and a dodge later, the final score had been made.”
