#5 Vasquez – Dead (RIP)
Interesting game. Failed to push forwards convincingly enough in the first half, through a mistaken pushback that blocked the way for the catchers to dodge through the line, and then couldn't hold onto the ball - he scores in the last turn. Vasquez dies, but the medic works his miracle. Oh, and Queenie blats a Chaos Warrior, first hit of the game, without even needing to pile on. Gorman continues to demonstrate why I named him after the incompetent idiot from the movie.

Second half, I get a blitz, get the ball after a bit of work, and score to bring us level. Much whining about lucky one-dice blocks on my part ensues! :)

Next kickoff, same sort of thing, I manage to get the ball after a couple of turns, but am not fast enough to score - ironically, it's Gorman that almost pulls it off, but he pulls a Gorman (succeeding a 4+ dodge but failing a 3+), and drops the ball. Oh yeah, somewhere in there, Vasquez gets killed again. The beastmen have a turn to score, and get it all the way up the other end of the pitch (we're talking literally one end to the other, it was that close), but the chaos warrior that ends up with it would have been a square short after two gfis. Thank god. So we just spend the last turn hitting people. :)

First action of the game SI'ed my best Chaos Warrior straight out with the Ogre... could have skulled without PRO and no Block for an instant TO... but no... gets the POW into the SI.

I fail a Blitz on the Ball Carrier and push it, then 3 TZ's on it. He dodges away fine. I end up Throwing 8 BLOCK Die at the Catcher... choosing the POW/SKULL result on the first 3 blocks so it cant side step while I hit it more... after the 3 players that can make Block actions all fail to knock it over I have to blitz it with a Dodge.. that works OK. I leave the ball in 4 TZ's and push a Pocket out ready for next turns progress.
He only actions of the next turn involve 2 1 die Blocks... he skulls on both, RR'ing the first, these would be his only 1 die skulls of the game...
I collect the ball and get it covered so the best he can get is 1 die. He gets Push.
Due to the imperfect arragement of my players (since i was kicking and going after the ball rather than recieving and caging tight) I have to throw a 1 die to get out... skull (funny i skull of my first 1 die of the game) RR into a PUSH... goto Dodge with the Beastmen with Dodge skill who would then just need 2 GFI's to score... fails his Dodge (there wasnt any Tackle on him either). He tried a 2 die against Block... I choose the Skull to end his turn. I pick up with a ST4 Warrior and get in range for T8 TD.
I just Dodge and run to the endzone but the Shadowing Sidestep catcher follows the whole way. Still get the TD tho.
1-0 to me first half... Recieving for the 2nd
He get a Blitz straight off and get a TZ on the ball, throws some block in the LOS too. I blitz the dude making the TZ one the ball to only get Block/Skulls... so he stays on the ball. I throw some blocks and move to try stop him getting down in full force... I get some TZ's on the ball myself and Guards on his player. I manage the 4+ pick up but dont risk the Dodge since I have Guard Cover and failing would be alot worse.
He rips the 1 die POW on the Ball carrier... dodges past my Tackle, picks up in a TZ, and Dodge past Tackle again... doesnt need a RR.
I blitz... dbl PUSH RR into dbl PUSH... thats 4 die this half to go with the 8 last half of which one has been successful for a knock down on the ball carrier. I bring in more TZ's and Guards.
He 1 die POW's out and dodges from tackle... gets his gifted TD.
I'm recieving with it at 1-1 and 6 turns remaining, still time to win 2-1.
He gets RR off the kick off.
I throw some blocks, pick up (using a RR) so decide not to hand off. I move up both flanks with Guards to keep him guessing.
He nails one flank with a CW on it and dodges arround the other. I blitz the guy that dodged arround and move to that flank, Guards arround the Ball.
He does a few blocks before attempting the blitz when he fails when Dodging to come in for a 1 die on the Ball Carrier. I move up a bit after failing all the blocks of the turn (PUSHes) and keep guards where I can given the limit of players being in TZ's and not moblie enough to help.
His StripBaller works and the ball goes into 3 TZ's. Then in the time of 3 blocks... all 1 die... ALL POW's the ball end up in no TZ's and his Thrower is free from a TZ... he collects the ball easily. My Blitz yeilds 2 PUSHes... RR into Block/Skull (his thrower has block)... so thats 16 die in total against his Ball carriers and only 1 POW/POWDODGE. He dodge out with no throubles but doesnt cover the thrower much. I Blitz again... Dlb PUSH, im outta RR's by now... so thats 18 dice against his ball carriers for 1 POW/POWDOGE now. I manage to kill a player this turn, which isnt happy about... it makes no difference to the result but that didnt seam to be his priority. I get another TZ on the Ball Carrier who is pinned to the sideline by 2 players... but will only need a 4+ then 3+ Dodge to score. He Blitzes out on 1 die to get a Block/Skull... then dodges the 4+, FINALLY fails something on the 3+ dodge. My T8... noone is in range of scoring my closest is a CW who would end up 1 square off with 2 GFI's... I manage a Pickup/Handoff/run/Pass/run... all to achive nothing but get the ball to where he cant score from.. he get a BH against me in T8.
We Draw 1-1
8 1 die POW's against me in the 2nd half alone on key players when the risk of him failing would have meant advantage to me... and 18 Block dice for 1 POW/POWDODGE... and being Blitzed... I think drawing wasnt to bad in the end.
