#16 Crop Circles V – Dead (RIP)
This was a fumbbl first for me...I got offered a game purely because my opponent has read my game reports and wanted his team to be a part of one. :-) So, here you go...



This match sucked.



Nah, it was actually a pretty entertaining match, if a bit lopsided. He offered me an intriguing match against a chaos team that avoids the standard claw/rsc/dp route to actually be a ball-playing squad. Figured what the heck, maybe I can survive and get the cash for another player. Didn't reckon I'd have much shot, as my opponent has a history of huge TR teams, which you don't get unless you're a superb coach. I might be better than average, but this guy's outta my league...

Anyway, the fun started early. First two blocks in the game resulted in ko's. Round two netted the death of yet another of the Circles line. Something about the name is just death for any player unfortunate enough to wear it; most die before getting their first skill. Circles V actually made it up to two skills before he bit the big cheese. Maybe Circles VI will reach his third before dying...

KO's continued to pile up, yet superb agility and strip ball, the ultimate equalizer skill, enabled me to score on his kick regardless. However, nary a ko woke up, leaving me only 8 rats to face his 11 chaos. Very nearly managed to steal the ball away for another score, but dropped a 2+ catch after I got the ball loose. Jarred the ball out again, but failed a 3+ pickup. Finally he scored, and again nary a ko awoke. This time I have only 5 rats to his 11 chaos, one turn left in the half. Ahh, but I have a ots!! However, double-skulls while trying to knock away his FA player stopped the half w/o a chance to try to score.

Second half, a single rat wakes up!! Yippee!! I now have 6 to receive the kick. Ok, let's try this OTS thingy again...until I double-fail the gfi into the endzone and ko myself. By the time he stretches the ball back for his second score, I have all of 4 rats left on pitch. My opponent could have stalled easily, but he took pity on my lack of luck and scored with 3 turns to go. Ok, my OTS woke up again, giving me 6 rats, maybe we can try this a third time...until a pitch invasion stuns 3 players, including my RO and OTS. Can only try a desperation dodging sequence using my agi 4 SV (actually worked). His reprisal knocks down everybody but the ballboy, so I can try yet more dodging. Incredibly, I even get my SV far enough downpitch (he has mv 9, after all) that only one beastman can actually reach him, using gfi's...which of course results in a POW, ball pops loose, near the endzone. Only one player can reach it and score...my OTS, who must dodge through insane tz's to get there.

*shrugs*

GFI x2 to set up assist; dodge 3+; 2+; gfi blitz to get his beastman away from the ball; dodge 5+; 4+; 2+ and then 2+ ball pickup to streak in the tying score with only a single turn to go, not enough for the chaos to score once more! Game's a draw!!!

Rematch in the offing, when armor breaks aren't an every-block occurrence sending rats off-pitch. After I break in my new linerat, though--I've lost two multi-skill linerats last two games, and have two rookies in their place. Must improve that first...
