That all happened towards the end of the game, however. I started off well and thought I had it largely wrapped up, but a disastrous couple of turns (apoth failed on the saurus, then my +ST +MA skink failed tried to stand up and dodge away 3 consecutive turns and fell on each of them, eventually killing himself) and some admirable luck to end the game gave Falcone the tie.
He played it very well to even have the shot. Like I said, I honestly thought I had it in the bag. Just goes to show you, right?
