“Welcome to the house of pain and horror. The pain was what he dished out to my team (never before have we taken such a pounding). The horror was what my team dished out to him! A virus kept his legendary beastman on the sideline, and two first half blitzes helped me to open up a 2-0 lead by halftime. Score once more to open the second half, and despite the devestation to my roster I was able to stall his scoring enough to ensure the victory.
What would've happened had the legend come to play? I shudder to think...
We have to say farewell to Kuthuman, a unique catcher who considered himself a blitzer. This agi 2 catcher, knowing his career was basically over since his arthritic hands wouldn't hold a bloodball any more, gave himself over whole-heartedly to his pent-up anger and frustration. All game long, his dauntless blitzes were key to the team's success, opening up holes to dodge through, taking on true monsters of CW's (including a Str 6 CW!!) and the enemy ogre. He badly hurt the enemy ball handler CW, forcing the chaos squad to commit more players towards ball control and less towards scoring. At the end of the half, the opponent had had enough, and a late blitz ended Kuthuman's playing days for good. But his contributions were enough to help snap a 3 game losing streak for the team. Hopefully we can take that emotion forward to our next game as well...
We're also gonna say farewell to the retirement of a couple other Scions. Norreen was only with the team 9 games, but thx for your time, effort and blood. Hadin, meanwhile, is one of the original Scions, indeed the only player to have played in every single game the Scions have ever taken to the pitch in. His agility and professionalism were a boon which will be hard to replace, but it's time for some sweeping reform in the Scions lineup. Injuries were starting to accumulate, so the management decided to trim off a couple of the nigglers and all the assistant coaches/cheerleaders/hangers-ons, to get the roster back down to fighting trim. Dropped about 45 points of TR, but we're now in much better shape to take on future opponents without giving up multiple handicaps per game. Don't worry, Scions fans, the team will be back into the top-10 human teams in all of fumbbl very soon!
Rest well, Kuthuman. You did your job well. Norreen, adios. Hadin...season box tickets are yours for the asking, amigo.”
