“The depleted Stars ca't quite believe their eyes as they fail to turn over the veteran halfling team, despite heavy numerical advantage.
A virus outbreak in the halfling dugout would appear to guarantee a win (check the halfling roster to see what I mean) but the little fellows stopped our attack on their goal-line, and handed off to the old warrior, Kalle Hittar. Then the show began.
Elan et al chased him all the way down the pitch, blitzing every turn, but they just could not take the little guy down, and he eventually converted for a 1-0 half-time lead.
And then, to my amazement, it happened again! Elan must have been given the mvp for comedy value, as his incompetence put us 2-0 down with four turns left.
We pulled one back immediately, but their wasn't time for another, the few remaining halflings determinedly holding on to the ball as the Stars surrounded them until the clock ran out.
Good job by Shinan, a much depleted team holding on bravely to carve out a win that looked very unlikely at the start :)
“A cold took out some of the team's best players and things looked grim. However the Foodeaters were used to facing impossible odds and truth was that sometimes opponents underestimated the halflings. Something regretted for lots of times.
It was shown directly at the start when the players ran forth with elvish arrogance, not considering things such as side stepping übertackling halflings. However it was still by pure chance and the evil eye of Nuffle that an elf stumbled in the end zone and dropped the ball.
If the field had not been flat it would have been an uphill battle from there on. A ST 4 Wardancers made the life sour for the relentless Hittar who slowly but surely went forward the field. Ball glued in his hands, mostly due to the sticky buns.
The halflings had done the impossible. By half-time they were in the lead by 1-0. And it wouldn't end there either.
Hittar, supported by two of his fellow halflings managed another impossible play when the ST4 wardancer showed himself incapable of doing anything but run around <i>trying</i> to hit halflings.
Much to the crowd's pleasure of course, no wonder the wardancer got the MVP because the crowd loved him. prancing around like the true pansy elf he was. (<i>ehrm -ed.</i>)
2-0 secured and the halflings looked forward to something that might yet be a tie. Or maybe even a win. The 2-1 hit came easily. The Halflings were decimated and when elves start with the ball, hope is hard to find however Hittar was still on the field and if his hands with superglue could touch the ball he could yet make it. A touchback later and he ran for his own end zone hoping that the referee would be nice enough to blow the whistle and end the game while the elves that looked as furious and dangerous as ogres (and equally incompetent one might add) stormed down the field.
The wardancer finally got his revenge when he in a doublePOW managed to hurt poor Hittar who immediately was taken out. However the noble sacrifice light the spark inside the halflings (and the fact that, there was the coach who had invited one of his ogre friends to watch the game and shouted threats.) and one of them took up the ball. Held it in both hands and jumped down on the ground like a ball.
It was impossible to damage such a defensive stance and the halfling rolled away from the blocking wardancer, after which the referee finally blowed his whistle.
The Foodeater gained fans that day.”
