"Ladies and gentlemen, it's the second round of the Battleground BloodBowl Online League's Launch Tourney, and tonight we have a matchup of Wood Elves vs Skaven. Both teams lost their opening matches (and both against Dwarves, incidentally), so whoever loses this one is out! Both teams are extremely fast; while the Wood Elves are better at ballhandling, the Skaven can play more physically due to their Storm Vermins and the big Rat Ogre. The Elves better steer clear of this guy!

Both teams have brought exactly 11 players, so whoever loses one because of injury will be at a disadvantage. This could be interesting since neither elves nor rats are really tough.

The Rats are kicking, and it's Marnion ter Voran picking up the ball and passing it to Gryphiel T'Eras. The Wardancer, Valmarion, dashes forward and throws a blitz at Rat Pit, throwing him to the ground really hard - and he won't get up again! They have to carry him off the field! Looks like he's broken a couple of ribs from the check. What a bad start for the Rats!

The Elven players are invading the opponent's half, while the Rats try to get the ball back. But Zik Zak falls over while trying to dodge past an Elven Lineman, and here they come again - Elthan hands the ball to Coreth, who sees Valmarion right in the Rat's end zone - he throws a pass - TOUCHDOWN!!! The crowd goes wild, it's 1-0 Foresters!

It's the Elves' turn to kick now. And the ball is hardly in play when Thozik, the Rat Ogre, hurls himself at Loriel Oakenleaf and slams him to the ground! He'll need some time to regain consciousness, so for now it's 10 on 10! Gutter Runner Speedy Ratzales receives the ball and hides behind his stronger teammates, waiting for an opportunity to run.

The Elves, of course, won't let him so easily. Elthan Dawnkeeper runs through a hole in the Skaven line to blitz him! Oh, he stumbles and falls down, and it's the Rats' turn again! Thozik takes a hit at Coreth Elnash this time, and what a hit! He'll need medical treatment in order to continue! Fortunately, the Elves have brought an apothecary who is able to patch him up again.

Both Storm Vermins are trying to get rid of their guards. Rat Suey knocks Gryphiel T'Eras over, but Karatte is too clumsy! He trips, and it's a turnover yet again! But wait! Marnion ter Voran tries to dodge away from a rat, fails, and here come the Rats - Thozik knocks Eldamir Thalion down, he tries to advance further into the Elves' lines - and he falls!

What a game! After the quick touchdown, neither team seems to be able to pull off a successful move. Elthan Dawnkeeper finally manages to hit the ballcarrier, but Speedy Ratzales stays on his feet. The Elves are now trying to put some pressure on him. But he's to agile for them, and hands the ball off to Zik Zak, who runs down the wide zone! Suddenly, the Rats see an opportunity. But Valmarion runs back to stop him, and he succeeds! Zik Zak is knocked down and loses the ball! Gryphiel T'Eras quickly grabs it and attempts a long pass into the opposing half, which could lead to another touchdown, but he fumbles it! Rat Inho picks up the ball and, while his teammates keep the Wardancer busy, runs through! TOUCHDOWN!!! The Rats tie it! And there's the half-time whistle!

It's the Foresters kicking again. The ball is in the air, but what's that? A Blitz! Valmarion leaps over the Rats' line with amazing skill, trying to catch it! And he does! The Rats don't waste a second. There they go trying to bring him down! But Stritzik falls! And the path is clear for the Wardancer! He dodges away from his last opponent! He runs! HE SCORES!!! Another quick touchdown at the beginning of the second half, thanks to the amazing play of Valmarion Windrunner!

Kickoff again! But this one goes wide off the field! It's a touchback! And there's Rat Suey, the Storm Vermin, throwing a Blitz -- but he goes down! Not his best match tonight, and here come the Elves! Gryphiel T'Eras takes a run at Rat Inho, who has the ball. He knocks him back, but the Gutter Runner keeps the ball safe. Several Elves are going his way. Meanwhile, Thozik lays a big hit on Avariel Stormseer! He's down, and his face doesn't look at all well! Looks like he's out! But Thozik wants to go even further, and they trip him! It's a turnover, and things look really bad for Rat Inho! Gryphiel hits him pretty hard, and he loses the ball! And there's Gryphiel's brother, Sylphiel, picking it up and heading towards the end zone! Several of his teammates follow to cover him as the Rats are coming in to tackle him! Karatte manages to bring down Loriel, but Zik Zak gets knocked down, and Sylphiel is through! TOUCHDOWN!!! 3-1 Foresters, and even though the Rats haven't lost yet, things have become very, very difficult for them.

The Elves are kicking, and it's a touchback again! But this time, the Rats have to go for the touchdown immediately. Rat Suey knocks down Taranion, and Rat Inho takes the ball and runs down the wide zone! He's incredibly fast! But Karon Treesinger and Valmarion Windrunner are going in to intercept him! The Wardancer slams into the Gutter Runner's frail figure and shoves him right off the field and into the spectators! He won't like what they do to him! Somebody throws the ball back on the field, and Coreth Elnash picks it up. The Foresters are back in possession, and their linemen are already slipping through the Rats' lines. The Rat Ogre tries to stop them and lands on his back again! Elthan gets the ball and passes it to Loriel, deep in the Rats' half, and again his teammates are coming to cover him. Gryphiel T'Eras hits Zik Zak, and the unlucky Skaven Lineman has to be carried away! What a day for the Rats!

But what's that? They seem to have realized the game is lost, and now focus on hurting Valmarion rather than stop the Elves from scoring another touchdown. Thozik knocks the Wardancer over, and Karatte tries to kick him into the guts, but he manages to evade! On the other side of the field, Loriel throws a short pass to Gryphiel, and there's not one rat who can stop him from scoring now! TOUCHDOWN! And the game is over! A clear win for the Foresters, who stay in the tournament and are going to meet a Dwarven team again in Game 3. Good night, fans, and be sure to come again!"

Now this definitely was not a good day for my opponent. It looked fairly balanced in the first half, even though one of his linemen got injured. But the second half was all mine. It started when the kickoff roll was a Blitz, and my Wardancer managed to leap over his opponents and catch the ball. Add some bad dice results for my opponent, and there was my second TD. The third came when his Rat Ogre (who has to move first on each turn) tripped while dodging, so he couldn't get his ballcarrier to somewhere safe. Now he had to go for a straight touchdown, but it was my Wardancer again who broke up his drive. After that, he was basically finished. That's why he turned to fouling Valmarion, fortunately he wasn't successful. My fourth touchdown just got me some additional SSP :)

I had lots of fun playing this game - hey, who doesn't like winning 4-1, especially if none of your players receives permanent injuries? Valmarion is a great player, his high speed and skills make him a force both offensively and defensively. I earned a whopping 80k gold pieces, and my FF rose again. So, onward to Game 3 - which is definitely not going to be an easy one...
