The Nandorins were lucky to have made it this far with a late blitz vs the Royalists sending the game into overtime where they drew and then advanced on a coin toss!

The Blood Falcons thought they were luckier as they could face the Nandorins instead of the heavier hitting Royalists!

The Falcons coach was tired and played poor defence, setting up poorly on the first two defensive drives (had my sidesteppers on the wings instead of in the middle, and then did not not have my inner defenders parallel either leaving less tackle zones!).

The Nandorins could do nothing wrong despite only having 10 players and even outhit the Falcons (who had 3 players with Mighty Blow!) to send the game into overtime. (I had no rerolls left after 5 turns in the second half and stalled until my turn 7 instead of scoring but it was not enough as my opponent equalised in 2 turns).

In overtime, a blitz allowed the Falcons to knock out one Lion Warrior and pressure the Nandorins. The Nandorins were forced to advance down the left wing instead of their usual penetration through the middle.

At last the Falcons found their mark with their hits and started to knock out Nandorin players. The ball went out of bounds and the Falcons recovered and formed a cage, advancing it slowly upfield and winning 4-3 against only 5 opposing players in the end.

A tough close match. My opponent made lots of dodges and got lots of good hits in the first 16 turns. I had 3 Mighty Blow and he had none and I was down 0-2 on the casualty count at the end of regular time heh.

But the blitz helped me and finally I was able to get some players off the pitch and I managed to escape with a win against a very good and sporting coach.”
