#13 Darius Spitestripper – Broken Ribs (MNG) #13 Darius Spitestripper – Smashed Knee (NI)
“Once again challenging a mighty team - this time getting the more hapless Bribe the ref and bad press as handicaps.
The Dark Elves were cursing their luck in a well-played first half - snake eyes by key players (and I mean you Dr. Thranst) at key moments kept the Mentalists from breaking with the ball and scoring, but it was otherwise pretty even and they held out for the tie. With the half at 0-0 they could look back happily, especially as they suffered only one Si in the process.
The second half looked tough but, as the coach was looking for a chink (any chink) in a seemingly impenetrable Ogre defence, the fans helpfully invaded the pitch, stunning half of the Smashhh squad. Manic Mandae just walked the touchdown in.
With turnovers coming thick and fast, the Dark Elves started to benefit from the absence of block amongst the Ogre players, and the next two scores came as a direct result of this, coupled with key bonhead fails that allowed the Mentalists to rush straight through the Ogre line to hit the fleeing gobbos.
The Luck rating lies, mostly because when I failed my rolls (and I did, often, I think 2/8 rerolls didn't result in some snake eyes joy) in the second half, I failed them on relatively unimportant things. MagmaBeast, on the other hand, got screwed - snake eyesing twice on key GFI's.
The Mentalists survive to dodge another day.”
