“As team-captain Gerry Mulligan failed to show up for the match the team was left puzzled on the field as they never produced anything worthwile. Jaco must have been distracted by the swathing moves of the young ladies as he hardly managed to pick the ball up once (always had a soft spot for the ladies that guy) while tripping when he did, and the other team-mates largely agreed upon that he had been the main-contributor to the teams first recorded loss. When the coach was asked about Pastorius' performance tonight he had the following reply:
"Jaco still hasn't realized that he must keep his focus on the game. It's been a great struggle for him to give up his music-career and we must all show some patience towards him. He's a great asset to the team and we'd be sorry to see him leave.
Still - we can not ignore the fact that the Cash Cage played a good game today and I'd like to congratulate coach Alexis with his ladies. We hope to see them for another jazz-interlude at some point."
Rumors still circulate about the extent of Mulligan's back-injury and there is little doubt that his absence in the middle of the field was a blow to the Giants' play.
