#4 'vicious' Vulthran – Dead (RIP)
What a game. 2-0, back to 2-2, finished at 3-2 thanks to a cheeky Turn16 reroll-less uber-play.

In a first half that featured multiple snake eyes, the Mentalists would have benefitted had their coach used the 'worst-case scenario' technique and did all non-rolling moves first, instead of relying on the expected success of 2+ rerolled dodges.

ChrisB didn't make many mistakes in the first half, and without luck, the less talented Dark Elves were left stranded. The Lizards stomped to a 1-0 lead, quickly doubled when the Har Ganeth failed their 3+, 2+ for the 2turn response.

The second half began with a second Perfect Defense for the Murderers, but the agility of the elves (ignoring Nurse Hatchet's 1,1, dodge that sent her straight to the Si box) helped them switch the play to the weaker side of the pitch. With Vulthran killed, the only outlet was the leaptastic Malkus Mandae, and he did not disapoint, making his 3+ catch and hotfooting it over the skinks to score.

The luck started to balance itself at this point (ChrisB began the second half with 71%), with double skulls blocks hurting the lizards. Some nifty blocking from Mad Hettie, gave Mandae the chance to leap into the cage and sprint back out with the ball.

Physically unable to stall (certainly not with the slimmest of chances of winning left), Malkus scored ASAP (well, he didn't risk an unneccessary GFI, but. . .with this luck?). And the Mentalists were rewarded next turn when skull blocks and a dropped pass gave the Dark Elves sight of the ball, although their blocking couldn't free up the neccessary space.

Their last chance turn8 attempt died on the first 2dice block (skull/pow, and Drenoch sadly lacks block) and that's when ChrisB's luck came back. Some leaping, stunty dodging and a pick-up under pressure gave them the ball, and the 3+ pass/catch made it (needed the catch reroll).

A sporting coach and some good play made this a very enjoyable game, even though it did leave me gutted.

And Mandae STILL hasn't aged. Hurrah.
