#13 Bond – Smashed Knee (NI)
#13 Bond – Broken Ribs (MNG)
First off, a little apology to OZ, as I was not a fun coach to play against during the game. Normally I chat a bit more and roll with the punches, but tonight I was a quiet and brooded about my luck. Oz and I worked hard to schedule this game across the world and he was very patient with me during the process. He played a good game and demonstrates the ability to be a great co-commish of the Cut Throat League.

The game was....really crappy :P I was dreading playing up 53 str almost as much as playing up 40 str against the Orc team 2 games ago. Although I received two handis, they were of little use...Buzzing for my Ogre and Palmed Coin (perhaps the worst handi next to the bonus cheerleaders). I usually do not write down what happens each turn, but it became apparent after the first two turns that this may be a good game to write out what happened as opposed to sounding like the typical "I had bad luck whine." Before I go into detail, the luck played a great role, but would not have affected the outcome of the match. I imagine the final may have been 3-1 his favor had it been remotely even. here goes:

First Half: Weather is sweltering heat and I have 3-4 less players than him.

Turn 1: I manage a crowd push that only nets a stun before I roll two sets of double skulls. On his first block he BH my Ogre, which I apoth, to avoid getting wiped off the board all game (to little avail).

Turn 2: Ogre rolls double pow skulls and stuns himself.

Turn 3: Two sets of double skulls on the first block of the half. He KOes two of my players and gets the ball.

Turn 4: Ogre kills his Str 4 blitzer and Apoth saves him. He scores and we each lose two players to the heat meaning I play down 11 v 10.

Turn 5: I get a KO to even the match, but he returns the favor in his half of the 5th.

Turn 6: 5th straight up double skulls of the match, with the Ogre.

Turn 7: He manages to stun my ballcarrying blodger with a skill-less lineman, ball goes into the crowd and thrown clear past all of my players and next to his thrower who picks up and throws an incompletion downfield.

Turn 8: I fail a gfi and KO myself trying to get next to the ball. He picks up, catches and gfi for a score.

Luck at halftime was 60 v 72.

2nd half: I have 4 players missing from the heat (and I thought it was 1/6, not 1/3) including two blitzers and an Ogre. He loses three and receives with a 10 v 7 advantage. I make no attempt to stop him and he scores again, thankfully using a gfi :)

Turn 2: Get the Ref is rolled and as usual I ignore. Oz follows suit, whew!

Turn 3: After I roll my 6th set of double skulls, he niggles one of my few skilled up players, a blitzer with guard.

Turn 4: He makes four dodges with 3 players and picks up the ball in a TZ without a reroll and then double pows the Ogre on a 2d against without a reroll. THis is after I fail a pick up and ball goes into the crowd who throw it in an "up for grabs" area.

Turn 5: I roll double powskulls again with the Ogre, who yet again stuns himself. I do manage to knock over his ballcarrier with my last reroll, but he picks up the ball in a TZ again without reroll.

Turn 6: I manage to knock the ball free, but fail a pick up with my thrower in no TZs.

Turn 7 & 8: After he gets two pows on his 1d blocks and my Ogre boneheads on a blitz for the ballcarrier, the tears are streaming down my face so that I cannot see the screen anymore, but I do hear that he scores again after a 3+ dodge, 4+ pass, and 3+ catch without using a reroll.

Final luck was 53 v 68%

As I try to hold back the curse words after losing so badly, I can only take consulation in the fact that Mully has this bad of luck every game...or so he says....Zing!!! :p

Good luck in future rounds OZ!!

"That was just plain mean Zeus!" whispered Hera..."I mean really...a bunch of fresh faced Humans and you went and did THAT to them. It's no wonder that they refuse to worship you anymore."
"Awww c'mon sis..." simpered the King of the Gods, "We were just having a little fun is all. We were TOO nice in Season 2 and look where that got us. I just thought it was time to remind the mortals that it is US they are playing."
"Well I still think it was mean" said Hera as she walked out slamming the door.
"I don't know what SHE is so upset about" said Artemis..."it's not like we unleashed Hell or anything...in fact Hades was too busy getting killed by that Ogre to do anything constructive!"
"Bite me warboy!" responded the God of the Underworld..."He was DR Evil...I simply wanted to discuss the relative merits of this mortal form with him..and his "lesson" was a bit intense...not like I STAYED dead or anything. Besides...it was a bit of fun on his part. Paying me back for that little knock I gave him to start the game. If you want to be upset at anyone have a talk to Poseidon..HE was the one who crunched Bond."
"Easy fella's..." pattered the Sea God, "Just lost my cool in the Sweltering Heat is all...he'll be fine with a little rest."

Silence fell across the room as they all contemplated a surge back into the top 5...if they kept this up one of them would have to go. But for now, they simply gloried in a game well played.

"Urrrrp! Exccussse mee boyss and ladies...but this is an excellent drop indeed. " Dionysos, as always, got the party started proper...and the music kicked in. Sometimes it is inded good to be a God thought Zeus as he slipped out to find Hera and see if she might join the fun.

PLAYERS NOTE:

Celas is correct in his excellet summation of events. We ourselves couldn't believe the lack of respect shown Coach celas by Dr. Evil (ogre). Hades BHd him in T1 and the Apoth was brought in to keep this killer on the field. He did repay the thought by felling Hades...but Apoth saved. After that it was skulls and Bonehead all match. VERY rude from the ogre. And he is also correct in the luck surge the Gods recieved ;-) In fact many of the plays described were attempted in the belief that we would most likely fail and give them another chance to earn some points...but alas the Lightning were up for a big day and there was no stopping them!

Thanks to celas for working with me to finally get the game played...and wish you all the luck you were denied in the coming matches! ;-) Play on!
