“They dying seconds of the match find the Maus head coach screaming at his rat ogre, who is looking at the ball in his hands, desperately wishing it was an elf's head instead...
"RUN! Run you big hariy monster! "
Shrieker eyes the burly War Dancer standing next to him, howing, "NO! Shrieker SMASH!"
"You've smashed enough! Get that bloody ball downfield!"
Liking the sound of 'bloody' ball, the lumbering giant turns and runs downfield, easily evading the stunned war dancer, who was fully braced to take a hit, but hardly prepared to make a tackle!
"Now throw it! Throw it to the Rookie! NOW!"
Shriker stares in front of him, preparing to throw the ball, then notices...a small elven catcher stands between him and the bristling gutter runner! He winds up and hurls the ball...
"NO! Not AT the elf! NOT AT HIM!" Muas' coach protests as he realizes that the Rat Ogre fully intends to take the elf's head off rather than try for a reception...but the elf, seeing the blood and the monster's eyes, and thinking of his dead companion ( who the Rat Ogre had killed only minutes before), pauses for a moment before steeling himself to take the blow that the ball promises to deliver and pick off the pass, ending the game.
That split second was all Vaportrail needed. He leapt up on the elf's back and snatched the ball from out of his nimlble hands, instantly bolting down the pitch across the End Zone line just as the final whistle blew!
After the match, Shrieker had to be restrained from maiming Vaportrail for robbing him the the chance to hurt one more elf with the 'bloody ball.' The Maus head coach intervened and tried to explain that a touchdown was far more vauable to the team than just another hurt elf...and is recovering nicely in hospital.
Yes, it is true that lukatrika was totally robbed by the rat ogre's shocking dodge/pass, and probably deserved to win, let alone tie (I will freely admit that his coaching was far better than mine this game) Sometimes Nuffle just wants to see a miracle I guess.
