“The terrific cast of Mausoleum of Pain is back in action. After an humiliating loss to the elves, with no casualty whatsoever, the Mummies are back on the field to spill the blood as usual. The Norses win the toss, but decide to let the Khemris have the ball, fine by us!
The drives starts slowly, with nothing but a stun on the initial blocks and no cas until turn 5. One of the thro-ras grabs the ball and surprisingly throws it accurately to the next from deep within the back field. The mummies move foward forming a cage. The ogre is taken down and fouled, but only stunned. The norses are pressing on the cage. After getting bogged down midfield, our thower has nowhere to go so he hands the ball to the ST6 mummy, which alertly makes the catch, no re-rolls required ! :)
The mummy holds the ball, but not before long comes a blitz from an annoying strip ball catcher. The ball is knocked loose and surrounded by tackles zones from both teams. The Khemris manage a few pushes and get the ball back, but lose it again after mistakingly blocking the annoying side step strip baller into position for a 1d block. This time the balls ends up in the hands of our blitz-ra, but he is also blocked and knocked down.
The norses end up recovering the ball, but the Mummies press them hard against the sidelines. The ball carrier however manages to slip out of there with two consecutive dodges and heads for the goal line! A few skeletons left astray come running after the ball and surround the ball carrier daring him to dodge for the end zone. The norse lineman gives it his best shot and.... fails miserably!!!!! even with the use of his dodge skill ! The half ends 0-0.
Second half comes, the Norses get the ball back. Their resistance in the first half however cost them dearly and they are now a few man short now. The half starts in the most upsetting manner for them. We suspect Nuffle himself was attending the game as part of the angry, cranky and smelly crowd of 88,000 that watched this bloody battle, and as a protest for lack of scoring in the first half, he struck down hard with a rock right on the head of the Norse Ogre. The poor fellow was killed instantly and the apothecary couldn't save him although he tried.
After that one, the Norses weren't left with much to contend with. A few skeletons and mummies went after the thrower in the back field, while the rest made it their purpose to slam the catchers. The thrower was able to buy some time by moving up and down the field, but inevitably he was forced to risk a throw at the catchers. The Mummy Queen went right for them and struck the much needed pow on a 3d block. A throw-ra recovered the ball and quickly surrounded himself from his teamates.
With about 6 opponents left on the field, it was only a matter of time until the Khemris crossed the goal line. They moved carefully and scored in the final turn, granting them the win.
Ug played a good match and came real close to score in the first half. He took advantages of my mistakes and never gave up. I would probably have lost this one if he wasn't so banged up from his previous game, with 3 blitzers missing. GG and good luck with the rest of the season!
#12 Stone E. Slab – Dead (RIP) #16 Ramm – Dead (RIP)
“Chaaarge! started on defense with the sacrifice of Stone E. Slab who left the game not on a stretcher but on his namesake… Ug was saving his apoth because he had a bad feeling… The defense held and had an 85% chance to score on the last turn before the half. Just needed a single dodge (and had dodge skill – opposing player did not have tackle) and needed to make one gfi and had a RR available… but the player fell…
Second half started with a thrown rock that killed Ramm the 28 SPP star ogre… And Ug was glad he saved the apoth until he found the apoth drugged out as the last bit of life fled from Ramm’s corpse.
Then the second half started with a couple BHs and Chaaarge! held on until the vary end when the Pain scored against the three player defense.
Coach Ug is still shell-shocked from the loss of Ramm as he has never been able to get the funds to field a full Norse team cuz they die off too fast…”
