What an odd, odd match. My luck was horrible, as one can easily see, but basically my poor, pathetic rats got smacked all around the pitch again. The Cheese spent probably 4 or 5 turns with all the remaining players prone on the pitch, just waiting for them to score so that we could get the ball back again.

Their scores came on their receiving the ball, slowly marching their monsters up the field with the skinks trailing slowly behind. As we neared the end of the first half, they finally made their way into the endzone. I immediately cleared the smallest of paths and sent my +MA/VLL Gutter Runner through their defenses and in for a one-turn score, and thus the half left us tied at 1 apiece.

We received the ball in the 2nd half, and immediately repeated our earlier performance, scoring on the first turn. They came back with their slow, methodical march. Even once they'd ensured a score, they didn't take it in, instead attempting to tally up all the Casualties they could muster. So our rats spent at least 4 turns with all remaining players prone on the pitch, I just never stood them up. Finally, turn 7 they score, which was a huge mistake, IMHO.

That gave me the opportunity to score one last time, and I very nearly did. My Block/Dodge GR went after a Skink, and with an assist at that, and if I was able to make this one block, I'd be able to take it the distance one more time and win this thing. Unfortunately, it was double skulls, and I'd already burned through my RRs. Their subsequent turn resulted in no more Casualties, and the game ended relatively peacefully.

I didn't understand how powerful Lizards are, or else I'd have taken a different approach early on. As it was, I felt I played very well once I'd come to understand what I was up against. They played extremely well, with their one significant gaffe: scoring with one play left. This gave me an opportunity to win the game, and I shouldn't have had the opportunity. Otherwise, they seemed to play to their strengths and play against my weaknesses exceptionally well.
