#5 Guntram Bose – Dead (RIP) #7 Sigibert – Dead (RIP)
“Once again, man of the match goes to the Khornium apothecary - that's three deaths in two games (two apoth rolls, two ones).
A promising start. 100% luck (okay, I had to reroll some double-skulls) until the third turn helped a strong defensive performance. The Khornium ran out the first half 1-0, scoring against the kick-off.
Sadly, the chaos armour folded like paper and after receiving the second half kick-off they were quickly down to 6 men - 5 after a tactical foul produced the second Chaos death.
Scoring with 5 elves is one thing - but four unskilled beasts and a Chaos Warrior? Helped by a complete absence of POWS, the Khornium lost the ball in their second turn. An uber-lucky 4+, 4+, 3+ dodge, a 1dblock POW and a 3+ pick-up gave the ball briefly back to the beasts, but they failed the GFI needed to prevent an Old World 3 dice block. Stunned. A quick pass and score made it 1-1.
Back to 6 men the Khornium went for the score again. Good play down the centre gave them a decent semi-cage and sight of the endzone - but Lordchaos made the moves (and the GFIs) neccessary for the 2dblock.
The POWS were flowing freely enough to keep it interesting until the end, but the superior Old World numbers, failed chaos dodging (burning the last reroll) and my tactical inability to play for a draw when the win is still in sight meant the Old School boys could make their final pass, catch, blitz and score.
An enjoyably tough match (I've never played so slowly), but a 2-1 defeat and a broken team with only 30k to show for it - not a good day, not a good day at all.”
