The first half was notable for ballcarrier Shell's failed 3+ (with reroll) dodge to death. This was followed by my failed 2+ (reroll) to pick up the ball, and 5 failed catches on the bounce. There was time for the Amazons to roll some doubleskulls blocks, and still score in the sixth turn.
I was fortunate enough to pull one back in the 8th, and the comedic luckfest first half finished 1-1.
With my sole skilled line-elf KO'd, I was down to 8 men. This trundled further down to 6, then 5, then 4, one of whom was usually stunned. A last desperate attempt to break and score was scuppered when my ball carrier rerolled his single skull block to pow/skull, and down he went.
I burnt my last reroll trying to make the 2+, 3+ dodges to get to the ball, and then rolled some nice ones on the next couple of turns. With no men standing, defence was proving problematic, although i was agonizingly close to making a last ditch one dice block (he makes the 4+, the 4+ again. . .one last 2+. . .failed).
Could have gone either way, but I just couldn't get those dodging Amazons to fall down (not surprising since, after the first half, most of my blocks were 1dice). Still, no Si so I can't complain. ”
