Broggi's Undertakers and Hel's Disciples met on a sunny afternoon in front of a crowd of 43,000 fans to play the inaugural game of the Total Revenge United Blood Bowl League. The Disciples won the coin toss and chose to receive. From the opening drive it became apparent that this would be a drawn out grind. The Disciples had two players knocked out over the first two turns and the Undertaker’s Elmore James was thrown out after an early foul. Elmore had been trying to take out Kolbakr the Minotaur early in the game. On turn 4, HD lineman Lok had his jaw broken by Spot the Werewolf. It was a tough call for the Disciples coach but he chose to hold back the team apothecary and Lok was carted off the field. Finally, on turn 8, Disciples Blitzer Birger rumbled in for the touchdown.

The Disciples managed to catch the Undertakers off guard with a blitz to start of the second half but were unable to build any momentum as Kolbakr the Minotaur missed the opportunity to make a couple of key blitzes and stood raging in the middle of the field. BU’s Wilber Wight started his move up the sidelines as his teammates began plastering norsemen into the ground. Kolbakr threw himself into the fray and nearly had his hands on Wilbur but at the last minute, Edgar the flesh golem killed him. Fortunately, the Disciples’ coach had not wasted the apothecary on Lok in the first half and Kolbakr was saved. With the minotaur sprawled out on the pitch, Wilbur was free to sprint toward the end zone. At this point the Undertaker’s coach could have tried to play for the tie while stalling the game. To his credit, he chose the riskier path and chose to go in for the score on turn 5.

After the ensuing kickoff went out of bounds the Disciples were able to give the ball to Dagr who was positioned near the line of scrimmage. Dagr broke through the line on a blitz, but was soon knocked down by Orville Wight and dropped the ball. On the ensuing play, he was able to blitz his way through Wilbur Wight, pick up the ball and take it in for the score.

The Undertakers pushed through into Disciples territory on the following drive, but time expired before they could get close to the end zone.

A good game for both teams.
