“Tough match all in all with the edge going to me.
I had lots of unused cash and informed my opponent that I'd accept his challenge but hire a star. He hired a wizard and all was dandy.
His drive the first half was effectively stopped in it's tracks by a few carefully placed blodge/sf golems and Ramtut. I even got the ball but a clean pow on my wolf a turn later made me even sweat. He got the ball in his 8th turn but sadly enough for him it was a hobgob blitzing whom had used up all his gfi's already. So my last action that half was to KO his dp whom had fouled once that half and I wanted to try to get him out, just to be sure that 2nd half. Worked; KO and remained so.
My drive started very well with a KO hobgob from the LOS and another KO; the bull with mighty blow. Actually a mistake. The other was far nastier with blodge/break tackle and stand firm. With 9 vs 11 I felt fairly confident that I could hold off his counterattack. i had shoved both my golems 4 squares downfield with the hope that I'd be able to let them score later on. Especially the one at 29 spp's I'd love to get his third skill.
It was not to be; his Bull started to play like the star he was; rolling a pow when needed and dodging like an elf mostly. When his Minotaur was BH too the odds swung so much in my direction that I decided to get a golem deep and try to score with him. As initially planned.
Yet he dodged like elves and an untimely double-skulls a few times, burning my re-rolls made me take no chances whatsoever and my ag4 Super-star Wolf scored.
Good fight of the Chaos dorfs. Desperately uphill struggling but never giving up. And it almost paid off. Good that "almost" does not count.
