Disconnect in the very last round ment that the luck-o'-meter was reset. Mine showed somewhere around 55 and I think Coggins showed somewhere above (couldn't see) but this is of little importance.
I was expecting that the lack of RR that Coggins had would turn out to be desicive which became less relevant as both sides failed numerous rolls - many of which were 2d blocks and 2+ rolls.
Luck went back and forth as players got KO and hurt on both sides. Some failed ballhandling by the Cherry's Gutter after the Crossbreeds had taken posession of it turned into a 1-0 lead to the Old Worlders. Some further failed ball-handling in the upcoming kick-off ment that the ball ended up on the ground among players from both sides but little happened untill the final turn of the round where Cousin Jeremia Dodged to reach the ball but failed the pick-up as the ball was covered by two of the imposing big guys of the opposing team ensuring that he couldn't further try to get it down to one of his team-mates waiting to make it 2-0.
While luck had mainly favoured the Crossbreads in the first half the opposite proved to be the case in the 2nd half although looks were decieving in the first part of the half where luck was about equal as the Crossbreeds ran down the field - it's always easier to recieve the ball especially when you're ahead with 1 goal so I was feeling slightly confident. Due to a misclick on my side the ball was shaken loose by the minotaur and scattered into the crowd only to get thrown deep into the Cerry's half where an orc lineman ppicked it up and attempt a long pass to the awaiting Gutter. The pass failed and ended up in the midst of players from both sides. The Old Worlders were however able to get the ball clear and further down the field and it looked like it would be a nice 2 goal win. Unfortunately Rawr (a Chaos warrior) had a different oppinion on that matter and managed to dage loose and knock down Jeremia despite the elf's blodge abilities and even pick up the ball. As Jeremia retaliated with a 2d block the coach was still feeling confident of victory, but as 4 pushbacks wasn't enough to knock the unskilled warrior down the Old Worlders instead swarmed the stallwart Rawr who managed a 4+ dodge followed by a 3+ and then finally attempted a langbomb to the waiting Gutter. But amazingly Grandma Nin was feeling extraordinarily vigorous today and snatched the ball in midair! Once again victory seemed secure but double skulls soon shattered the fantasy as our dear Nin was brought down by an angry Big Guy and BH. Again Rawr displayed amazing talent as he dodged away from a lineman (and the prone Jeremia still recovering from the fall), snatched the ball and attempted a pass - that failed! But fate caught up and the ball scattered to it's intended target; the Gutter who quickly equalized.
2 turns remained and victory was still in reach for both sides and the Crossbreeds made ready for a quick TD but their plans were thwarted by a perfect defence and double skulls. The Cherry's had a hard time getting hold of the ball-carrier afterwards and the game ended in a most interesting draw - a pitty the replay got screwed up by my disconnect.
A game where many key-players got kicked of the field - including the Cherry's passer (who did return but too late to make a difference) and Cousin Marcus the elf and Uncle bart; one of the Longbeards - and made it hard for both sides to take full advantage of their teams.
Accusations of Jeremia using drugs to increase his strength are still being looked upon.
