Jimmy niggled his way out of a match that began well enough. A bad kick and a moderately successful offensive drive gave me a 1-0 lead by turn 4.
The Amazons suffered from some early match slipply fingers, fumbling pick-ups and passes galore. But, frustratingly, the Psychotics were unable to capitalise, their final push finishing agonisingly close to the score (one square) after the ball bounced into the hands of the only Dark Elf player not in range of the line, and unable to pass/hand-off (tactically inept following up).
The second half saw things take a turn for the worse (from the dark-elf point of view). The POW-happy 'zons hurled my players to the ground, the dark elves' armour cracking like eggshell. A RIP, a KO and two stuns from the first 6 blocks made things tough.
The Grapes' textbook pass n drive ran like clockwork - with my frantic pushbacks having little affect on the eventual equaliser. 1-1 with 4 turns to go.
An awful offensive manourvre cost me dearly. It was almost rescued with some desperate long passing, but the 4+ wasn't made and the ball bounced happily to the 'zons.
The 8 man dark elves were outmuscled and made to work for even a shot at the 1dblitzes. Too many rolls and too many ones, including some nice snake-eyes dodging, meant that I couldn't even get close to the ballcarrier.
A turn 7 cas (the second amazon armour break of the match) from a Grapes double-skull block was the only consolation for another loss against amazons.
