“The Thunderers entered their second WEMOAC game with less dwarfpower than usual, as a nasty virus knocked out star runner Skinny and Morley's Revenge kept other important players on the bench. The loss of Skinny in particular was a huge blow to the team's strength.
The dwarves still managed to beat up the skellies pretty good in the 1st half and knocked the ball from the carrying thro-ra. Blitzer Brawny scored in turn 7. Two dwarves were badly hurt by the mighty mummies however...
...which coupled with Morley's only gave the Thunderers 9 players available for the 2nd half. An unusual situation for the dwarves, and facing a full khemri side they played a most un-dwarflike game, avoiding contact whenever possible. This didn't work out well, unused to the tactic as they were. The khemri put pressure on the ball and knocked it free in the middle of the half. One of the thro-ra picked it up and it looked as if the skellies were going to equalize, when...
...the legs of the thro-ra fell off on a failed gfi into the endzone. The ball was free in the endzone and the khemri had one last chance to score, but failed the pick-up with no RR left.
The Thunderers suffered heavy (heh) casualties in the 2nd half, leaving the team weaker for the last WEMOAC qualifying match.
In all honesty, Shuffle, Shuffle, Smash deserved better than this. Nuffle just didn't see it that way (never mind the luck stats, there were numerous disconnects).”
