“This was a fairly exciting game for the Flowers fans, though their performance wasn't quite what we were hoping for. Nevertheless, the Fierce Flowers have now won their first match in the TBB Qualifying Rounds. This 4th match was played against the Orc troupe Stargazers.
The first half began with the Flowers' charge brought up short by Stargazers defense. The Flowers continued a slow and steady advance, however, and after about 3/4 of the half had been played, the Flowers scored with an amazing and unlikely play by thrower Poppy, who threw the ball to blitzer Orchid who was free behind the Stargazers defense line. Then Dahlia, the Flowers' second thrower, dodged away from a rather sticky situation to support Orchid near the Stargazers' End Zone. The Stargazers made a great attempt to blitz Orchid, but the blitzer himself ended up lying down on the grass field. The Flowers took no unnecessary risks this time, and Orchid promptly scored the game's first and, as we were to see, only Touchdown. The rest of the half was went rather uneventfully - the only major event was the Stargazers knocking out Marigold, the Flowers' second catcher.
The Second half promised excitement as the Stargazers were one touchdown behind. And they did indeed make a big effort at scoring. Particularly worth mentioning is the brilliant change of sides just when the Flowers' defense were in place to close down the wide zone the Stargazers were charging. A brilliant move, and a certain Touchdown for the Stargazers. Or so it seemed. There was a stray Flowers blitzer near Kopernicus, the Stargazers blitzer who had finished off the switch. The Flowers immediately sent blitzers leftfield in an attempt to intercept the charge. As fate would have it, the lone blitzer was next to a Black Orc Blocker who tripped her over as she was dodging away in an attempt to blitz Kopernicus. Fate kept stirring the pot and the Stargazers had a run of bad luck which was about to seal their doom. This bad luck resulted in a second chance for the Flowers to bring down Kopernicus, and indeed they did - right next to the edge of the field. The ball bounced into the crowd and was thrown in... to pretty much the best possible place for the Flowers, and Dahlia was quick to grab the ball to safety. Frustrated, the Stargazers resorted to orcish brutality in a desperate effort to get the ball and score. In his rage, Sir George Airy brutally tackled Iris. Everyone thought she was dead, but the Flowers' apothecary, Mira C LeGro, was able to restore her to playing condition. Praised be modern medicine!
All's well that ends well, and finally the Fierce Flowers have pulled off their first victory, hopefully the first of many. Keep up the good work, girls!”
