“Grotty Little Tournament Qualifier #3 Final!

Luck reading is out due to game freezing on turn 4 second half after I did a Serious Injury MNG on one of Wizard's best players. We had a gentleman's agreement that on the reload, that player would run to a corner and take no futher part in the game. At that point, the luck reading was 53% to 63% in my opponent's favour.

A hard ask for NextJedi playing up 100 TR and 40 TS. The handicaps were pretty crappy which didn't help either.

NextJedi scored with some relative ease despite some initial problems creating a hole, but had Darth Maul seriously injured very early in the match. The Boyz were happy to see NextJedi score early so that they had time to score a reply and plenty of time to bash.

On the NextJedi kickoff, they caught the Boyz on the backfoot with a blitz that lasted a millisecond as all the free players were very deep in defence! The Boyz knocked over the line of scrimmage and then sent a Line Elf to the casualty department with a foul (this is a tourney so the no foul policy was shelved).

There were only 9 NextJedi players left and they decided to run away, to the very loud boos of all the spectating fans. Being mocked galled NextJedi into action and they decided to resist the Boyz's onslaught after all.

It was to no avail as the Boyz were to experienced and their cage had too many players with Guard and the scores were tied at half time.

NextJedi started the second half with the intent of trying to stop the Boyz scoring, but were too outnumbered to threaten their cage with anything that had a good chance of success and resorted to fouling to try and even things up.

The Boyz tried to get their rookie Troll to score but he dropped the catch twice and with NextJedi players swarming back towards the cage to swoop up the loose ball, the Boyz gave up trying to get some confidence for their big fella and scored instead with their Thrower.

A very tough game for Wizard. He needed some good rolls (eg Biltz) and to pressure me hard before I got the chance to cage. A blitz he got and the ball went deep (and I fumbled my pass to my thrower) and so it could a been a very different game if he had not set up so deep to protect his players from a blitz (by standing 7 or 8 away).

Still he was a good sport and we had some fun banter during the game. Best of luck with your new team or recovering with this one.”
