“A bad match up, -33 in tr and two crappy handicaps. The CD was a big favourite in this final, and they finally won after a real thriller. But it wasn't a easy win or walkover, and if the zons hadn't failed the important rolls in a couple of TD attempts, the underdogs had clinched the title.
First half, CD starting. The zons managed to knock out both bulls, the first in a blitz already in turn one and the second after a neat fireball from the wiz. CD was pretty close to score in turn 6, but some heroic dodging was just enough that the zons needed to knock down the lone ball carrying hobgoblin.
In the last turn the zons got their first td attempt. We needed a pushback, pickup and handoff with RR, but when the RR was wasted on double skulls, the attempt was in vain and the handoff finally failed.
In second half the zons could make it deep into enemy territory. The CD wiz helped the bull Stampy to knock down the ball carrier, but the ball scattered pretty well and the zons still had a decent chance of scoring. 4+ pickup and 3+ dodge (with RR) for td. But since it is impossible to roll 4+ when needed, this chance was also wasted.
A hobbogobbo got the ball, and survived a rerolled blitz, but failed to dodge away from the intense ladies (see above about the 4+) which gave the zons a last chance of scoring a probably game winning td. We needed to block down a stand firm CD with 3 attempts, pick up the ball and hand it off. But the 3 blocks failed, so now we needed to blitz the evil dorf. Of course, the dreaded double skulls showed this time and this attempt was also wasted. The ball pickup failed of course and the bull Stampy could pick it up in the last turn and rush away to freedom and a game winner in the last turn.
Thanks for the game Saurumanthewhite and congrats to the title! I know I was pretty lucky with the dices most of the game, too bad they didn’t were on my side in the most important situations…
Cartonettes now get a well deserved summer vacation after a very good season after all. Next season they will move on to the well respected Wide World Of Blood Bowl (WWB)and who knows, maybe Mimmi and her friends will be a successful team there too? ”
