The game was very topsy turvey, with me rolling snake eyes at the wrong time repeatedly to keep me playing catchup most of the game. I started with a snake eyes fumble and my opponent swooped, stole the ball and scored on me, but not before two of my Linemen killed two of his Linemen on my second turn. Unfortunately for Mr_Launcher, his apothecary failed.
I leveled the scores at 1-1 and then only had to defend against 9 players after my fans threw a rock and KOd one. I applied pressure and unfortunately for my opponent, he failed a GFI with his ball carrier with nearly half my team in his half and I was able to recover the ball and score after stalling a turn to leave my opponent just one turn to score.
And he almost did it! Despite having only 8 players and me setting up only sidesteppers on the line of scrimmage, he cleverly used a frenzy player to push a player from one row back from the line into his half to set up a chain pushback TD!!!
Sure it required a lot of rolls, but it was great play to set it up and I thought he was unluck not to be rewarded for such play. For the record, he needed 2+ Dodge (with reroll), 2 dice push, 2 dice push, 2 dice push, 3+ Leap, 2 dice push, 3+ dodge, 2+ dodge and then 2 GFI. He failed on the 3+ dodge.
Second half saw me start with a 2-1 lead and defending against 9. I did not play hard enough defence and my opponent got a relatively easy score. My mistake was that I had two guys deep in his half who should have put tackle zones on his players. I was too timid (they were both Str 4 and one had mighty blow) and this allowed him to get an easy hand off and throw for an easy score.
At 2-2 and kicking, I get the snake eyes again at really bad times. Firstly, my thrower snakes a GFI deep and falls over. On my next turn, my GFI with a player to blitz and free my potential scorer also nets me a snake-eyes and my opponent dodges to the ball and scores on me to take a 3-2 lead. My mistake there was that I was too nice. I had the chance to blitz his only penetrating player with Str 4 Mighty Blow tackle to ensure I would not lose the ball (he wouldhave rolled double skulls, but then I could have rerolled it) and taken my time instead of going for a score straight away.
At 2-3 down, I roll another snake eyes trying to pass the ball, but at least this time, my players are deep on both ends and I manage to score to tie the game.
We each score one more and the game ended in a draw. I mighta won that if I had really gone for the kill late in the first half by doing a lot more blocks but who knows. At the end of the day, I got no permanent injuries, some money and no FF loss so a draw is good result. Much better than the unfair injuries my opponent received, 3 CAS, all caused by linemen without mighty blow, all resulting in RIP and apothecary failing. Would take a draw over that happening to me anyday!
Anyways, I good luck Mr_Launcher with your recovery and I hope to play you again when your team is strong again.
