#13 Pvt. M.A.D. – Dead (RIP)
You think an wood elf team would be able to make a better showing in a game where at least 80% of opposing passes ended in either a fumble, mis-throw, or failed catch. In fact, the first offensive drive by each team was a textbook 2 turn TD. The second Dark Elf drive succeeded despite a tight wood elf defense, and then Insurrection lined up for their next attack. Dubble Skull. Re-roll, Push. Next Block: Double Skull.

That stalled the drive and stopped the wood elves from scoring, as from that point on their dodging and blocking became atrocious. Although they did manage to snag the ball on several occasions, their utter failure to form any sort of defensive cage (due to early failed dodges) constantly led to the ball being recovered by the Dark Elf side.

The disgrace of the game came when rookie Private MAD got up to try and lend an assist in the dying seconds of the first half, hoping that with War Dancer blitzing support they might recover the dropped pass and score an equalizer. The poor rookie was so overcome with excitement that he failed to notice that the snickering dark elf lineman who had knocked him to the ground the turn before had deftly tied his boot laces together as he lay prone. Dodge 1, Re-Roll, 1, *Trip* *Thud* *SNAP* *Spurt* *Spurt* *Trickle…*
The team’s head coach held the team’s medic back at the sidelines with a stern look that said, “Don’t bother, we both know we’re all better off this way...”

Second half continued as the first half had ended, with the wood elves moving the ball well, then haplessly tripping up trying to protect it. The old pro Cpl. Hurk managed to pull his weight, sending two dark elves to the casualty box (one with a nasty ‘branch to the groin’ move), but then again, he didn’t have any dodging to do…

Still a fun if frustrating game, the dark elves dropping enough passes to keep hope alive, even if that hope was to be constantly dashed by ‘juan’ and his twin brother ‘juan’ constantly showing up uninvited every play…;)

Good game, look forward to a rematch!
