“It was a recovery match for both teams, but especially for the Devils, who had only eight linemen and a witch elf available. The Champions, playing with 10 men, took advantage of this. They also had luck on their side most of the time, and managed to achieve a 1-0 half time lead thanks to the good work of their Dragon Warrior, Valmariel. In the second half, the Devils attempted to drive along the right sideline, but were stalled by the Champions. They tried to pass the ball to a free player, but it scattered. Valmariel (possibly the best player on the pitch) picked it up and handed it to Telamon, who passed it on to Galadron, and the Lineelf scored the 2-0. After that, things became a bit freaky. The Devils failed their very first block after the kickoff, and Thalion blitzed his way to the loose ball and picked it up. A ferocious fight ensued, with the Champions trying to make it to the end zone and the Devils trying to prevent them. On turn 6, Thalion knocked down one opponent and tried to dodge away from another, but I rolled a 1 (where a 2+ would have been enough). His witch elf, Hezekaia Cohn, tried to push Paladion away from the ball, but both players went down together. Telamon then picked up the ball and tried to get the TD, but he needed a GFI to do that, and I rolled a 1 - again. Fortunately, Hezekaia also rolled a 1 when trying to secure the ball, and thus Telamon could blitz her (helped by Thalion) and carry the ball into the end zone - right before the final whistle.

Overall, it was a good game - I received tons of gold and ssp, and neither of us lost any players; I did inflict a niggling injury once, but it was averted by his apothecary. Only the 1 on the FF roll irked me a bit, but that's a minor issue :)”
