“Sometimes friends can be a real pain in the arse, believe me.

There was that coach, you see, and I knew him since I was learning to play Blood Bowl. He had started to tell me about his "new cool lustrian team" and how he would have liked to try a match with my Khemri and so on...

..well, maybe is my fault. I should have checked better before accepting.

It was when all my team was ready to hit the field that I noticed how many women were turning up amongst the fan. Mind me, we always get our share of the fair sex coming to see us play.. but there was an oddly high number of human females in the public, that day.

Still unaware of the doom impending on my team but slightly suspicious nonetheless, I asked my Thro-Ra Kemsyet if all those women would have been a hindrance for the team.

"Don't worry" she rattled "I bet you are still remembering the little incident with the Norse team. You see.. our main duty remains to play Blood Bowl until the Feared One is satisfied. So we will play the match, and only after the end of regulation time will we go and seek amongst the fans for the prophesied reincarnation of Ankhefenamun's Bride, she who is also known as the dark-haired, dusk-skinned, jade-eyed beauty..."

It was then when my friend's team, twelve beautiful, dusk-skinned and black-haired amazons, made a somersaulting entrance on the field. Something icy cold gripped my stomach while I saw my players look at their opponents with a collective frozen smile on their skulls.

What can I say? All the match was spent with my guys trying to look at the eyes of their opponents to sort out the jade-green ones. The Thro-ra fumbled nearly all the balls they tried to pick up (is easier to pick up things if you look at them instead than at the eyes of the nearest Amazon). Kemisyet actually managed to stun herself (throwing down the gutter a nearly done touchdown) after blitzing the Amazon Silke Klein, because of the jade-green glint of said Amazon's eye-makeup.

On the flip side of the coin, I've never seen all my team so frenzied. All the players (mummies included) kept running around like mad for nearly all the two halfs. I'm rather happy with the blockings too.. when an Amazon was filed out from the would-be-brides she was fair game for the heavy-hitters.

At the end... it was a draw. I congratulated my friend for the daring style of play of his team, then packed my stuff and went away, not paying much attention at the screams from the public as four mummies and nine skeletons started to check the eyes of all the women present.

The trip back home was good. A very pretty and scantly clad Amazon even turned up asking for an autograph. She also addressed me..

"Excuse me, sir, I'm curious... can you please tell me who is this Ankhefenamun?"
