“Tonight was the second time I faced this Wood Elf team. The first time had been with my Skaven, and I had lost 1-4. Now it was up to the Champions to even the score.
I received the first kickoff. At first my players weren't able to pick up the ball, but his Wardancer tripped while dodging immediately after. So I gave the ball to Thalion, the Dragon Warrior, and sent some guys to protect him. His other Wardancer (Doger, the Ag 5 scoring monster) still managed to steal the ball, but couldn't get it past the guards. I took it back, passed it to my other Dragon Warrior, who was standing wide open in his backfield, and Valmariel scored an easy TD.
I then kicked off, and his lineelf fumbled the pick-up roll, so I was free to take a whack at his players. On the first block, Loriel hurt Elrond badly! Now there were only 9 Wood Elves left, because Faladir had been KOed in the last drive and was still out.
He then picked up the ball and tried to pass it to Sparkplug, but the Wardancer was attacked by Tiel'Shar and couldn't catch it. Thalion picked it up and attempted a quick pass to Lamion, who was free to score, but he fumbled it! Dang. When Sparkplug took the ball, Loriel threw an assisted blitz at him, but ended up KO. Dang again! Sparkplug ran towards my end zone, but Eldareth and Galadron intercepted him and knocked him to the ground. Doger tried to help him, but the High Elves overpowered him. Then the whistle signalled the end of the first half.
His first drive was pretty much a déjà-vu of the last one: Faladir picked up the ball, passed it to Sparkplug, and the Wardancer dropped it. Thalion retrieved it and was covered by his teammates, while Lamion and Valmariel infiltrated the Woodies' backfield. Things got worse when Doger failed a simple dodge roll and caused a turnover. Valmariel almost reached the opponent's end zone, and Thalion passed him the ball. However, Sherto got in his way and Sparkplug, with impressive speed and his Strip Ball skill, could knock it out of his hands. But that wasn't enough to stop the Champions, for Thalion removed Sherto from the ball (and from the pitch as well, knocking him out), and Lamion picked up the loose ball and ran into the end zone for the 2-0.
On his next drive, he handed Doger the ball (he managed to receive the pass for once) and dashed forward along the right sideline. I then surrounded his two Wardancers with no less than six players, but somehow he managed to break free and score to cut my lead short to 2-1.
It was my turn to receive, and when my opponent caused a touchback, I handed the ball to my thrower and started hitting. Thalion promptly hurt Doger badly, reducing his team to 8 players on the field. Another of his linemen knocked himself out while bringing Lamion down, and Valmariel KOed one more. Thalion then ran into the Wood Elves' end zone, Eldareth handed the ball to Loriel, and he attempted a short pass to the Phoenix Warrior, but fumbled it. Sparkplug picked it up, and I tried to knock him down, but failed. However, Faladir immediately caused a turnover due to a failed dodge, and I had a last chance to make the score 3-1. Unfortunately, Thalion dropped the ball, and the game was over.
A great match for the Champions, who outplayed their opponents in virtually every aspect of the game. They received huge numbers of spp and are on the best way to become a damn good Blood Bowl team. I hope they can keep it up!”
