#11 Chen-tao – Smashed Knee (NI)
The day was sunny and the crowd healthy as these two juggernauts met on the bloodbowl pitch for the third time.

Spirits were high in the Adept camp as all round Superstar Hthark the unstoppable made a guest appearance.

The game started well for the Adepts a drive down the field saw them positioned on the Vanguards end zone with time to bash. But the resilient elves kept on fighting and some nifty blocks enabled Hopp'n Mc'Cauldron to jar the ball loose. Agile star in the making twilight veil then took over and scampered the lenght of the field, pursued by a trio of BC's. But elvish speed won the day and the half ended with the Vanguard up 1-0.

The second half began well for the Vanguard sending Adepts club maddog Chen-tao into the crowd where he suffered a nasty 'hand under opposition fans foot' injury. The hlaf then degenerated into a farce with both teams fumbling and bumbling their way around the ball. Finally the Vanguard secured it and took an unaasaiable 2-0 lead. The Adpets did their best to put the hurt on and assit the Vanguards next opponents, but even with the ref under wraps they couldn't manage to do any serious damage.

GG Snorri!

Twahnloes:
3 pts - Hopp'n Mc'Cauldron: This versatile Witch-Elf is always there when you don't want him to be, the sign of a true player.
2pts - Frost Warden: A born again (??) darky, this little blitzer had a fine macth with two easy TDs his skills are improving, and we definetly haven't seen the last of him yet.
1 pts -Twilight Veil: A dodgy second half moved this agile elf down the list but his skill in the first was a deciding factor earning him the final vote.

Another big crowd! The games between these two teams have attracted huge crowds (130+) right from game one and their competitiveness is developing into quite a rivalry.

The Adepts are one of the few teams the Vanguard really lift their game for - each time they've played them they've played out of their skins and this game was no different. On paper the lads were in trouble. Their previous game they lost their strike tackler, leaving them few options here to take on those pesky and dodgy goblins. They also lost one of their two guarders, leaving them few options now to tackle the dwarven wall or the beefcake bulls.

As soon as the Adept's cage formed on that first drive, their losses really hit home. There was nothing the elves could do but watch it roll down the field. They haven't felt so helpless in their entire career. So they dropped back to Plan B and decided to just survive. They dodged and evaded the chaosian rolling machine, giving away as few blocks as possible so there might be some elves on the pitch if something should come up. Finally at Turn 5, with the Adepts deciding to kill time on the tryline, the elves somehow managed to find themselves all in the right spot at the right time. I've still no idea how they managed it! A small chance and they stole off with it and the game. The rest of the match was a desperate struggle, but it was that move that sealed it for them!

Frost Warden had a fantastic debut.....and I think he's been found out by coach Flo! He doesn't miss a trick. Born again indeed. After Frost Warden died spectacularly in the first block of this season and then with a second lad rip'ing a couple of blocks later there was no time to invest in a new jersey. We had to rush a new recruit out there asap and so he's inherited the bloodied old #1 jersey (ooc I know - for twahnlows I asked everyone to keep names unique! But frosty died before he could do anything this season, so it wont affect the database). So far he's doing it proud, but we'll have to patch over the Twahnlow insignia until he earns his keep!

Twahnlow Votes

3pts: #13 Zenkon
Drew a double skulls from Antarctic Gale as he caused an early turnover in the Vanguard's 2nd half drive. This allowed Mitra to storm downfield, blitz the thrower and if he'd collected as well, the Adepts would have been right back in the game. Luckily nuffle laughed harder at Mitra's failures than Antarctic Gale's and we got away with this one.

2pts: #16 Mitra Concentration
Mitra never actually got away with the ball, but constantly threatened to run away with the try to level the scores. He powerfully blitzed the thrower, and also managed to trip the witch elf just as she looked set to run downfield. Fortunately he was so focused on the players he fluffed it every time he went to nab the ball!

1pt: #12 Jakushitsu
Hard pick. He didn't actually do much, but he almost broke the Vanguard morale. Grabbed the ball after the starting whistle and quickly nestled into the cage his lads set up for him. Five turns of laughing and taunting us while we struggled to formulate even half a plan that might break us into the cage to nab him.
