A deep kick and a Blitz! result looked promising, but instead of giving us the chance to cover the ball for a possible T1 defensive score, all that happened was St4 Ag5 leaper Dr Thranst snake-eyes'd his GFI for a KO. He liked the KO Box so much he chose to stay there for the next 14 turns.
We grabbed the ball back, gaining a BH in the process but a fumbbl crash and my own stupidity conspired to replace my excellent defensive turn 4 with a 1dpushback and two more KOs for me.
5 men down we fought on, breaking the cage again, and making a run for it with the ball. Usefully, I managed to fail two crucial dodges, leaving Bitsey wide open, and in the following turn a POW from the little fellas followed by a bounce into the crowd and a long, long throw allll the way down the pitch gave the ball straight to the dwarfs who ran in a turn 8 score.
The second half saw a mighty 1/5 KO roll so we started heavily outnumbered again. Sneaking down the wing, some no-pow blocking and another failed dodge (too many 2+ moves forced by Blizzix) left me wide-open. More POWS from the Doomhammers and another irritating crowd-throw put the ball in a tough place, but we won it back.
We made the 3+ pickup and the 2+ dodge out, but the neat throw to a safe Mad Hettie was scuppered when Ginxtrakk intercepted on an 8+. The slow cage proved too much for the remaining dark elves (a nice doubleskulls block didn't help), and they trundled in a turn 6 score to make it 2-0.
Two turns left, but our blocks couldn't even get a pushback, and we had to rely on a 2+ dodge to get someone downfield to give ourselves a chance at the consolation. One, and down she goes.
A bad day all around in Har Ganeth.
Nice game against a friendly coach though.”
