#12 Thondeeth – Smashed Knee (NI)
The Squeakers took an early gamble by using their match allocation in magical sponges to bring their Rat Ogre Fleshtearer into the game who had pulled up sore just before the start of the match.

The Squeakers started in offence, and pushed one player deep. The Nightmares tried to attack the Squeakers ball carrier in the opposing backfield before a tagger had covered the Gutter Runner deep in Nightmare territory. This allowed the Squeakers to score an easy TD.

On the next kick off, the Nightmares pushed deep whilst their quarterback ran back towards his own defence to prevent being sacked by the speedy Squeaker Gutter Runners. However, the Nightmares found no one to pass the ball to after four of their players ganged up on the Squeaker Rat Ogre Flesh Tearer but failed to bring him down! Instead Nightmare Witch Elf Saleen T'zaar injured herself running into Fleshtearer's fist (Skull, rerolled to Skull, and then SI Niggle, Apothed). The Squeakers were then able to easily sack the Nightmares quarterback and score a second TD.

On the next kickoff, a dropped catch in the backfield by the Nightmares again allowed the Squeakers to storm their backfield, steal the ball and score.

The demoralised Nightmares looked in danger of losing the ball and conceding a fourth TD in the first half, but the Squeaker ball rusher was tackled on his way to nailing the Nightmare ball carrier and the Nightmares got themselves on the scoreboard.

In the second half, the Nightmares started in offence but made a mess of the attack on the line of scrimmage (a guy without block rolled Skull/Pows on both the first and rerolled block) allowing the Squeakers to again storm the Dark Elf backfield and steal the ball. The Squeakers injured another player on their way to a 4-1 lead.

With only 9 players available to take the pitch (2 injured, no apoth and a KO Witch Elf), the Nightmares decided to try and protect their more valuable players by only fielding 3 players on offence! The Nightmares tried to throw the ball over the top of the Squeaker players bearing down on them to buy some time but the pass was intercepted! The Squeakers soon overwhelmed the three Nightmare players and scored a 5th TD.

Still with only 9 players, the Nightmares again only fielded 3 'expendable' players, and tried the same tactic, only to fumble the pass this time, and then have the Squeakers injure another player and score again to take a 6-1 lead!

With only a few minutes left in the game, the Nightmares decided to try to score a second TD and put their entire lineup of 8 on the pitch - Witch Elf Salene T'zaar was still knocked out!

The Squeakers pushed hard in defence, and when the Marauders dropped the ball from a perfectly thrown long pass by their quarterback, the Squeakers were in position to score a crushing 7th TD. However, their Rat Ogre Fleshtearer caught the bouncing ball and refused to throw it upfield (turn 8 and he had already moved) and the game soon ended with a 6-1 scoreline. Incredibly, several thousand Squeaker fans decided to tear up their tickets as their favourate thrower Snitch Silvertongue had been benched for almost the entire game and never touched the ball thanks to the Squeakers being the kicking team most of hte match!
-------------
A good fun match, though my opponent was very cursed with bad luck, rolling a few 1s or skull/pows or skulls at crucial times to allow me to steal the ball and score over and over. His Witch Elf remaining KO'd for 4? drives also made it much easier for me.

However, he did make some risky moves a couple of times that burned up rerolls and/or caused early turnovers, such as blocking first with a player without block. Even with 2 dice, that is a 1 in 9 turnover and too risky for the first block in a drive.

Being so badly outnumbered and already missing 2 players next game (and the Apoth used), my opponent decided to try and conserve his better players by fielding his 3 most expendable players partway through the second half. This kinda worked, as I only had 3 players to hit each turn, rather than all 8 as I would easiliy surround him.

Post match, I rolled a 2 for money (-2!!!) and 1 for FF. I would have happily traded 4 of the TDs for some money and FF gain hehehe.

Anyways, a fun game against a fun opponent, who did not whine despite the luck going against him repeatedly.
