“Die Warp Maus pull their furry little finger out again!

The first 3 turns went well for the little furballs, with 3 DE Ko'ed, the fireball doing no significant damage nor losing the rats the ball, and the opposing DP ejected first foul (stun).

Then things went down hill. Lost ball, two RIP, pile of KO, and (1) apoth fails! Downhill. Was happy to keep it tied at 0-0 for halftime, but with 3 players gone, didn't figure that I'd be advancing. (good old Thumper, died on an 'afterthought' block right as halftime whislte blew!)

Second half, got just a nat lucky at the start, with no major damage and the elves covering the ball rather than picking it up. Then, a break! An elven Blitzer, trying to take down a helpless little gutter runner, rerolled to a Double Skull!

Die Warp Maus swarmed around the Dark Elf line, marking the thrower and the elf covering the ball. However, this came to nothing, as they sucessfully dodged and passed into a one sided cage downfield. But then...the 'Third corner' of the cage Ko'ed himself trying to dodge into position, leaving Biter open to Blitz the ball carrier!

The rats again swarmed around the ball, and Biter nailed the hapless elf...only to have it bounce onto an elf blitzer, who caught it (6)! Wrapped up tight though, the elves could only knock rats about and consolidate themselves, and were unable to advnace (in fact, backtracking a short ways).

The gutter squad (what remained of it) and a rookie Linerat took up the initiative, Ko'ing the ball carrying blitzer, and leaving the ball in 3 tackle zones! But the elves agility came though again, if not their blocking ability...and while the Dark Blitzer was unable to take our clawed gutter down, the line-elf who dodged in to get the ball failed...but scattered it onto the blitzer, who again caught it! (6)

This time, Biter Blitzed in to lend a guard assist, and then the rookie linerat who had helped out earlier nailed the ball carrier, taking him down, and scattering the ball clear! Afterburner snatched it up and took off like a possum out of hell for the end zone! Vaportrail sped after him for cover.

The dark elves tried to catch up, but between Vaportrail and Biter's hitting ability, Afterburner ran the clock down just a small bit before running in the first touchdown of the match!

With seconds to go, what was left of the Die Warp Maus line stood deep, waiting to tackle and blitzer or witch elf who might be pushed to within range of a touchdown with complex blocking at the line of scrimmage. But it was not to be, with the blitzing line-elf doing his job too enthusiastically, and taking down the linerat cleanly on the first try.

Die Warp Maus was content to le the clock run out, rather than risk any further losses, and advanced with a score 1-0. Not what the fans wanted to see it seems, as several fans fro mboth sides were seen tearing off thier team jerseys after the match and storming out of the stadium after mashing the ripped garments in to the mud...

Die Warp Maus pulled off an unlikely win round 1, but is now badly battered for their appearance against a ferocious team of Dark Elves in round 1...
