“I would be lying if I said that this win was not a whole team effort. No single played dominated this match.
My only handicap was a virus, which luckily took out one of his hobgoblins, the only player with Surehands on his team. So his 12 to my 13.
The Rot received, and the kick went expertly in their opponent's favor. Along with a Perfect Defense, there was little the Rot could do to keep the Chaos Dwarves from breaking up the offense. The Anvilz, however, managed to attract the attention of the ref when one of their hobgoblins tried to nail the Beast while he was down. With the score at 1-0, receiving again on Turn 6, the pressure was on the Rot. At this point, Tommy Industrytee managed to dispatch the Minotaur, Badly hurting him and removing him from the game. To back that up, the offence broke through the defense by heavily overloading one side... however, it got bogged down. Turn 8 showed a really dire situation, and Robin R Stool came down the sidelines and tried to smash aside the hobgoblin who was blocking the Touch Down... failing at that, Brave Urlan P Reek decided to hop out of the tacklezones into another, sidestepping the Bull Centaur, and sprinting into the endzone in a glorious display of athleticism. At this time, a Chaos Dwarf blocker was sent to the Injury Box by Andrew Sickson, dropping the CDs down to only 9 players.
Halftime, 1-1. The CD set to receive, however, the Defensive line managed to repulse every single attempt that the Anvilz made to break through. Robin, picking up the slack from the first half, nailed Killzor, giving him a concussion to prevent his return to this game and the next. In return, the Anvilz hammered 2 of the Rot's players to the Badly Hurt box... no player that would be missed, though. Finally, a hobgoblin grabbed the lose ball and ran for his life, not before he was tackled by Robin again, who grabbed the ball and started running the long trek back. She made it accross half the field with a Bull Centaur hot on her tails. In her haste, she missed a piece of trash on the field and tripped over it, sprawling midsprint and dropping the ball.
At this point, Rot star Hugh Salmonella managed to scoop up the ball, survive an incoming hobgoblin, and score as the whistle blew ending the game.
Good game Todd... the dice tipped me into the victory there. Thanks, and good luck in the rest of the SUMT.
“Well, as I stated midway through the game, if their vaunted Dwarven Armor, can't protect them, why the hell would I waste an apothecary on their stupid arses?
MDoR played an excellent match, they used thier fodder to tie up the Anvilz skilled players, they then bombarded the weaker Anvilz with superior skills, and in the end won out.
I felt like it was a close match, though to be honest I needed luck to go my way more often than Z did, and Nuffle always gets you for that. :o)
Thanks Z Good luck, kick some arse!”
