“Despite a reload in turn 2 (driect connect but one client's connection disappeared!)... where mummies and balls were all over the place, this turned out to be a very good game indeed!
I had hired the Count star to try and take the heat off my ghouls, as there were plenty of tackle/mighty blow
players on the Khemri team. My luck started out pretty bad... and worsened... throughout the 1st and bulk of the 2nd half... from about turn 14 it started to improve. In fairness though both coaches regularly suffered from skulls and snake eyes...
The Khemri scored first in the 1st half, and were able to hold off any kind of threat from me in the last turn or two.
However, both mummies were KO'd... and at the start of the 2nd half only one came back. Despite this, with some desperate play, and some misfortune with throwing, I had to use the count to pick up and dodge in zones, and get to the end zone by a GFI. I could have handed off to a ghoul, but that was a rerollable 3+, and the GFI was a rerollable 2+... and the way my luck had been I took the GFI...
The match went to overtime, and a really good bad kick but the ball right in the Khemri end zone... and one of the first couple of moves Gforce made ended in a turnover. I was able to flood players into his half. The AG3 Khemri ball carrier had been given Bone Head by the single handicap I had received, and that had started to kick in!! Unfortunately the stubborn and powerful Khemri resistance held onto the ball, and by turn 6 had got the ball into my half and looked to be within striking distance of the endzone, although neither side had a reroll left. I managed to pull to players back, and another early turnover from GForce allowed me to get the ball... leaving me safe with 1-1 but a chance to grab a win for the undead was in sight... unfortunately the first dice I rolled was a skull...
GForce went through on the coin toss. It was a very close game... with both sides taking and losing the advantage on numerous occassions. To be honest, without the Count I would have lost plain and simple... My team gave their all, losing one 30spp Ghoul permanently, and a mummy, that regenerated! I don't think the Dwarves will be able to stand the power of the Khemri in the final, especially with a good Khemri ball carrier...
Thanks for the game GForce... and I look forward to our next encounter if it's anything like this one!”
“A match very worthy of Semi Finals if not a final.
Turn2 reload problems were sorted amicably with the technical advice of a spectator (thanks Jokaero - the waiting finalist)
WotfudBoy said before connection that he would be hireing the count and in response i joked about dropping a skelly and bringing in Ramtut. I should have done it and then maybe (btuonly maybe) could have made this a win rather than a coin toss.
Some great play by the undeads and some even greater spirit from Wotfud to keep going through the hammering he was taking from the dice.
The 1-0 halftime score nearly never happened thanks to some Excellent defending and luck the other way when the blitz on ballcarrying count turned up POW and the loose ball landed in the hands of a Blitz-ra who needed 2 (rerollable) GFI steps to make it into handoff position for the +AG Thro-ra to score. 2 Turns of heavy defending (even tho the undead mummies were both still KO) and some more help from the dice were needed to stop the equaliser coming before the break.
The second half saw more bad dice for both teams and slow progression along the pitch from old timers with MUFC pushed into some desperate defending. In the end it was the hired count that stepped up to make the difference dodging between 2 players to get the ball and then sprinting away again for the TD. a Ghoul was in place to score but the count just did not have the trust in his temporary teammate to risk sharing the glory.
With the BoneHead handicap finally coming into effect on the restart there was a chance for the faster more agile team to steal a winner but there were too many rolls needed.
OT started with a kick so deep it hit the Khemri EndZone. The ball stayed there or there abouts for 5 turns seeing more TZ than a prone 1turner waiting to be fouled. The count went into the crowd and a Ghoul was finally cas'd with extreme predjudice (finally after 3 RIPS one of them stays dead with a wight(failed dodge) and a mummy(Block) going earlier but managing to regenerate). Howard finailly managed to lay his hands on the ball and sprint as far as he could manage to slip the ball to the awaiting Blitz-ra who then moved almost out of range from any defenders and just far enough to be in scoring distance. It was the return of the skulls that left him open to a block the following turn and the whole outcome of the game switched again with The Old Timers being left an outside scoring chance. A chance that failed due to yet another Skull.
Coin Toss decision and the Boys from Old Splatford progress into the final.
Back to where i started, A GREAT GAME.
looking forward to our next encounter Wotfudboy.”
