“I hate to whine about bad luck, but heck I was bent over by Nuffle and anally raped by a 10 foot cactus I tell you!
The Not Anothers started in offence and pushed deep with catchers whilst keeping the ball in the backfield. The Maidens rushed deep to try and sack the ball carrier with a single vampire.
The Not Anothers were confident of scoring, as it would be easy for the Gutter Runner ball carrier to dodge away and run upfield. But no! He gets tackled and gets stunned! (I can't roll 2+ on a dodge with reroll, but he makes all 5 OFAB rolls, and 2 GFI 2+s to lay a TZ on me, and this was after I rolled a double skulls for a block too).
This left few Not Another players near the ball and it was easy for the Maidens to score.
On the next kickoff, the Maidens blitzed and got good field position. They put a few players next to the Not Anothers Rat Ogre and sure enough he knocked himself over (one dice skull, anything else would have been fine as he had block).
The Maidens then scooped up the ball and formed a cage. The Not Anothers had no way of stopping the Maidens from scoring a second demoralising TD from defence.
On the next drive, the Not Anothers managed to score a TD through using the speed and agility of their Gutter Runners to reduce the lead to one by the half time break.
However, the Not Anothers only had 9 players in the second half whereas the Maidens still had 13. The Maidens started with the ball and pushed deep into the Not Anothers territory, flattening the oposing line of scrimmage. Not Anothers Rat Ogre was deep in the backfield and expertly took care of one vampire. Well that was the plan, instead the big dope knocked himself over (double skulls) and left a huge hole for the Maidens which they exploited to score a third TD.
The Not Anothers replied and then played some tough defence to pressure the Maidens into dropping the ball. The Not Anothers had a couple of difficult chances to draw late in the game but couldn't get the ball.
-----------
That was one of the least fun games I have ever played. The turn 2 double skulls rerolled, shortly followed by snake-eyes on a dodge and stunning myself was a big setback, but tolerable. Then to get blitzed and roll a skull with the Rat Ogre to give my opponent 2 turns in a row was devastating.
Then I had the lovely run of rolling a double skulls 3 turns in a row, whereas my opponent rarely failed an OFAB roll and when he did, he only got Stuns (last time my Vamps played, their OFABs resulted in 2 deaths and a BH!).
Anyways, despite my gripes, my opponent played a very good game and used his players well. Apart from the luck, I blame the Strength formula! Generally I think it is good, but my team was way over valued. A single Str 5 Wild Animal with block is a huge liabilty when you only have 10 other players and 9 of them have 7 AV and over half of them don't have block. I think it was a farce for our two teams to be close in Str. Then again, if the dice had been a bit more even it might have been a closer match.
Congrats Gitzbang, you got your win against me at last. I am sure there will be plenty more to come in the future.”
