#4 Inthyn – Serious Concussion (-AV)
Nice report, can't add much more to that. Was a little pissed by the end of it, but made the mistake of picking up the ball when i didn't need to.

Cheers for the game :)

Well, this match was one where I certainly lucked out towards the end of the second half. Through the combination of an important mistake, and also a double 1 with the ball carrier, I managed to pull off a third TD to bring the game to a tie in the final turn of the match! Anyway, the game went a little like this:

Drive 1: SWL Avengers received, and moved a few players through. With so much NoS in my half of the field, there was little chance of me actually stopping them from scoring, and score they did, with a long-bomb going straight into the hands of an AG5 catcher, who dodged away, and took the TD with ease. Score: 0-1

Drive 2: Copperwood Eagles receiving. Well, it was supposed to be a nice quick TD. With the threat of a ST4/AG5 blitzer in my half of the field, it had to be. Unfortunately, double 1's trying to pass the ball, and then again when trying to pick it up resulted in a second TD for the Avengers. Score: 0-2

Drive 3: Copperwood Eagles receiving. Finally, they played the way they were supposed to! without many 1's at all to slow them down, we managed to pull off the 2-turner with the combination of a hand-off, followed by a long run up the field, and a short pass to an elf in the end-zone. Score: 1-2

Drive 4: SWL Avengers Receiving. With only one turn to score in, the avengers did a mighty good job. I should have had the set up different, but fortunately, even AG5 was not enough to dodge through to score the TD. Half time score: 1-2.

Drive 5: Copperwood Eagles Receiving. A perfect defence made this one rather tough ... I also made a couple of mistakes, which meant that he was able to get a 2d block on the ball carrier. Perhaps I was focusing too much on getting a few elves off the pitch ... but in the end, the Avengers managed to snatch the ball away, and with another long-bomb, the ball ended up in the hands of a blodging elf, and without a tackler close by, I was unable to knock him down. I did, however, manage to get his numbers down. 3 injured elves, and 3 KO'd (only one of these came back) meant that for the next drive, there would be only 8 pro-elves on the pitch to my 10. Score: 1-3

Drive 6: Copperwood Eagles Receiving. With only 4 turns left in the match, I had to score quickly if I wanted a chance at overtime. Since there weren't enough defenders on the pitch, this wasn't a problem. A quick pass and a handoff got me the two-turner. Score 2-3

Drive 7: SWL Avengers Receiving. I set up poorly for this one - I had my players too far from the LoS .. which meant that to get a TD, I was going to need GFIs. I thought I was completely screwed when Dravaal placed several elves around the ball, not worrying about trying to pick it up. My treeman proved his worth here, pushing his way in next to the ball. Although he wasn't about to pick it up ... he was a threat to the elves that were trying to protect it. That's where things really went wrong for the Avengers... their thrower decided to retrieve the ball, which was no problem with his sure hands ... but then, when trying to dodge away it was snake eyes at the worst possible moment. The ball landed in 2 TZs, but I was able to clear both of them thanks to a bit of lucky blocking, and bring the score to 3-3.

Drive 8: Again, the Avengers were left with just one turn to get the TD before overtime. With so few players on the pitch, there was no real chance of it happening (sweltering heat left 3 more off the field, so there were only 7 of them). Full time score: 3-3

Drive 9: Overtime. We were fortunate to be selected to receive the overtime kick-off. I don't think either of us had much of a chance to prevent the score if the other team had the ball. Overtime lasted just the two turns, as my elves took a traditional 2-turn woodelf touchdown. I did have to use my last RR to catch the pass, so if I'd used it up earlier in the match, I definitely would have had some trouble. Final overtime score: 4-3

Twas some rather poor luck in that second half for the Avengers that got me the win this match ... I don't think they quite realised what had happened until it was too late. The win was snatched right from under their noses ... and I'm certain that they feel at least a little bit robbed after that game.

Edit: Wow .... that ended up being a pretty lengthy report!!!
