B.S. Christiansen has been with Team Saxo Bank as a team coach and advisor since 2000. His primary function is as advisor to Bjarne Riis, but he is also available to the entire organization 24 hours a day.

“My main responsibility is to get everyone working together as a team and ensure, that we live up to our values. My job is also to solve the conflicts, which inevitably will occur, when we as a team participate in the big and demanding races. I also spend a lot of time advising Bjarne Riis as well as the riders and other staff,” says B.S. Christiansen.

As a team coach B.S. Christiansen heads Team Saxo Bank's yearly survival camp in December, where the entire organization practices solving conflicts and working together as a team under stressful and extreme conditions. The wives and husbands also take part in the camp in order to gain an insight into, what it means to be part of Team Saxo Bank.

B.S. Christiansen is a former elite soldier. For 28 years he was a Ranger in the Danish Army, where he took part in military operations both in Denmark and abroad and he is one of NATO's most well trained elite soldiers. Already as a young man in 1978 he completed his training as a Ranger at the infamous American military school; Ranger School at Fort Benning, Georgia, USA. He is also a trained electrician, pilot and diver.

B.S. Christiansen has not done any racing, but has practiced sports at a high level. For five years he was on the National Danish Parachuting Team, and for six years he was on the national team in Army Equestrian. He has participated in both the Army Olympics and the Army World Championships.

He is married to journalist Karin and is the father of three children.
