Uic was always being told to get on with being a lineman. But as the conditioning drills of being repeatedly jabbed in the stomach by a troll wore on, he would look over at the catchers and other ball players working intricate patterns. That is what he aspired to! There must be more to life than being punched in the head.
And so he would sneak out after training and drill with an old ball that had been given up as lost. Slowly he refined his skills. Then one match early in his career he took the risk. Teammates were calling him to cage the ball and protect it from a particularly angry opponent. But instead he swooped forwards and grabbed the ball from under the wardancer's nose. Nobody knew quite what to do but Uic did. He had run this so many times in the dark on his own. He ran the ball in and has never looked back.
