At the age of 30, Adolf Galland was promoted to become the youngest General in the German Armed Forces. In this position, he not only inspired his squadrons with his personal prowess, being credied with 104 victories, but he also applied the knowledge he had gained in combat to improve technical and tactical aspects of the fighter arm. In recognition of his success he was awarded the coveted Knights Cross with Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds.
